Ashanti At Johnson & Johnson Event

Ashanti attended the Johnson & Johnson Beauty Product party eariler this week. She brought along her mother, who is also her manager, and her baby sister Shi Shi, or however that child says her name. Not sure if I'm liking Ashanti's choice in dress though. She looks lovely, but I just would have went with another choice. Not feeling the tulle at the bottom not one dayum bit!
Oh Shi Shi... I wish you would really do something with yourself! Just do something... and work them arms out too dammit!

Can A Sista Rock A Mic?

Our nations capital will be playing "hostess" to one of the entertainment industries most prolific female music and arts festivals put together; The fourth annual Can A Sista Rock A Mic? Festival.

The festival marks the progression of the female voice in the industry be it from spoken word, to visual arts, to music... it's all there for the taking. Each year the Festival gets better by showcasing some of the greatest females to ever rock the mic.

Last years festivities brought out Sy Smith, Philladelphia's Bahamadia and MC Lyte to rock the mic right, and this year will be no exception with the sista's scheduled to perform which includes artists Ayah, Nola Darling, Alison Carney and Teisha Marie. Also featured during the weeks events are veterans such as Jean Baylor, Angela Johnson, Yahzarah and N'dambi.

In addition to the phenomenal women on the mic, CASRAM will also highlight other facets of female artistic expression with a production of The Saartjie Project and a screening of NO! The Rape Documentary. The festival begins on Wednesday, October 8th in the heart of Washington, DC's historic U Street area and culminates in a free grand finale concert in Silver Springs, MD on Saturday, October 11th.

The four day event schedule can be seen above on the pic. For more information on CASRAM and to purchase tickets to various events, visit the Can A Sista Rock A Mic? website for additional details.

Teyana Taylor and Megan Good

The Mercedes Benz Fashion Week went down over the weekend in Miami, and baby girl Teyana "Google Me" Taylor was workin the hell out of the runway. She got the opportunity to rock out and model bikinis in the Diesel Swimwear show. I know a lot of people aren't feelin this young girl but I am. She's got her own edgy little style going on and I love it. It's very much needed in the game right now. I'm sick of seeing the stilletos and reffuled blouses with tight ass skirts. Meagan Good was at the show as well with her hunky dark chocolate of a man Thomas Jones. They were spotted sitting front row at the Custo Barcelona Swimwear show and looking quite bored. I'm thinking Megan was thinking about how much better she would look on the catwalk than these skinny minnie chicks! Notice that Megan is once again rocking the YSL Canvas Leopard Tributes... the same shoes that she's worn at least 10 times in 10 different pictures within the last two months. You startin to make me a lil suspect on your shoe collection Meg!

Day 2: Thisday Africa Rising Festival

So day 2 of the Thisday Africa Rising Festival has come and gone, and I'm still trying to figure out why Chris Brown is looking like he's 2 Big Macs from having a straight up gut. Dude, you're 19 years old! How come you're not cut up and well defined. Hell... even Lil Wayne small ass has a slight six pack goin. Just cuz you're light skinned does not give you a pass to look however you want.

Hmmm... Mary tries so hard when she tries to dance. I swear she reminds me of that auntie that we all have that tries to dance at the family weddings, gatherings, or wherever, and she just doesn't quite get it right! Still trying to figure out what's the deal with the weave. Can't really put my finger on it exactly!
