News: Segregation Still Exists!
Every year around the middle of springtime, maybe later, high schoolers prepare for their proms. Of course we all know that prom night is what most of us looked forward to that whole school year, and you knew that you were going to have a great time partying all night with all of your friends. Never once does it cross our minds that we could be could be seperated from our friends simply because of our race. It's something that the kids now take for granted becauseat least 99% of them have never had to experience anything like this. But in one small county in Georgia, this very same scenario has been occuring for decades, even now.
Last year, in his hometown of Charleston, Mississippi, actor Morgan Freeman offered to pay for the towns first integrated prom at Charleston High School. Unfortunately, despite his success, and notoriety, Freeman's offer was quickly shot down by the white parents, but dully embraced by ALL the students. What ended up happening? The white parents held their own "private prom". This exact situation is the reason why HBO has decided to do a documentary called "Prom Night in Mississippi,” which airs on the network in July.1/14/2009

She Came To Cheer... So Why Won't They Let Her?
Forget the fact that Jamie Burns was recruited to come to Dallas' SMU (Southern Methodist University) to cheer from the field, but has now been told that she can only cheer from the sideline. Her doctors have cleared her medically, and her mom has said to let her daughter do what she was recruited for.8/08/2008

News You Need To Know...
If you're a Sprint/Nextel user and you've been wondering how to get the hell up out of your contract, then I've got some good news for you. In an one of the most significant legal rulings in the tech industry this year, a Superior Court judge in California has ruled that the practice of charging consumers a fee for ending their cell phone contract early is illegal. THAT'S RIGHT! And if you live in Cali and you have Sprint/Nextel, then their violating the law by not allowing you to end without any fees.7/26/2008
Nike Pulls Dunk Ads
If you know sports like I do, then maybe you'll see it like I do. I don't see anything wrong with this ad. It's "in your face" advertising... so to speak! This picture right here, happens every damn day to players in the basketball arena. So, what's so wrong with this ad? Critics say, it's homophobic. That it is feeding into the homophobic views. 7/17/2008
Theives Steal 995 Gallons of Gas!!! Damn Where Was I At?
I know you guys can tell it's a slow day in the entertainment world because I'm blogging about something that I HATE to even think about... GAS PRICES!
I was over at CNN.com reading and happened upon this story about some thieves in Lehigh Acres, FL stealing 995 gallons of gas! DAMN!!! Where was I at when this was happening. Anyways, the theives somehow rigged the gas pump to where they went in to pay for a couple of dollars worth of gas, but ended up pumping $4000 worth. Even after the thieves left, customers were still getting the gas at whatever price the bandits paid because the pump was still rigged.
These folks were brazen enough that they commited this crime in broad daylight at a Circle K gas station. What tipped authorities off, and I'm still wondering about this, is that customers who had come and gone, started calling in saying that they filled up their tanks for $15! Sooooooo, now that's a problem? Are you kidding me? Why would you call in? Come back and get more gas before you do that. Damn! Damn! Damn! I hate to say it, but you know they had to be white (no offense to my white readers)... you know black folks ain't that damn savvy to know how to do something like that. Well, I take that back, I'm sure there are some of us nerds out there that know how, or even someone who is familiar with working on those machines. This was obviously an inside job because the crooks hit the pump where they knew the camera wouldn't hit it, and they knew which buttons on the machine to disable. Either way, it's been fixed, but with the way the ecomomy is going, I'm sure this ain't the last we'll be hearing of situations such as this one.
Josephine Baker Image On Stamps
The U.S. Postal Service released a series of stamps to commemorate honoring vintage black cinema yesterday at a ceremony in Newark, New Jersey. One of the stamps is of the legendary actress Josephine Baker. The US Postal Service, which last year lost a legal battle after refusing to mail postcards with a topless image of US-born chanteuse Josephine Baker, is honoring the late black american with a stamp of her own on Wednesday.
The stamp reproduces a poster from the 1935 French film "Princess Tam-Tam" that featured the sultry star -- this time with her bosom covered -- who emigrated to France where she took much of Europe by storm after encountering racism in her home country.
Josephine Baker was born in 1906 in St. Louis, Missouri, where she came face to face with discrimination, including in theaters where blacks were barred from sitting in the same areas as whites. After achieving fame in Europe she often returned to the United States to help with the civil rights movement, and joined the Reverend Martin Luther King at the landmark 1963 march on Washington.

Remembering Iraq Soldiers With 4,116 Mile Run
While the rest of you are chilling by the pool, and hanging with the homies, Jon Bellona and his friends are spending the hottest months of the year running across the entire country, from California to Virginia. That's 4,116 miles — one mile for every service member who has died in Iraq since the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
One of those soldiers was Bellona's best friend and college roommate First Lieutenant Michael J. Cleary. He died December 20, 2005, when an improvised explosive device, or IED, blew up near his vehicle just 10 days before he was scheduled to return home.
"I was actually running along the New Jersey shoreline looking at New York City, where the Twin Towers used to be, when I came up with the idea for the run," Bellona said. "9/11 was the reason Mike joined the Army.
Running was also a natural way to remember Cleary, who loved to pound the pavement. "He was definitely a big runner when he was in the Army," Bellona said, "even though he smoked about a pack a day!"
"I was a football player in college and never ran," said Rowland Boateng, one of Cleary's best friends from college. "Then spring semester of junior year he took me out [on] this long 7 miles, and since then I've been running."
The journey is called Run for the Fallen. The core group of runners includes some of Cleary's friends from Hamilton College Erin Kavanagh, whom he was scheduled to marry two months after he passed away.
But the group isn't just running for Cleary. "Participating in this run is part of the healing process for us," Boateng said. "This is something that can help all of us who have lost a loved one — a friend, a son, a daughter, a grandchild, a loved one, anyone."
The group started out on June 14, the Army's birthday — better known as Flag Day — right outside of Fort Irwin in California. The military training center is located in the Mojave Desert, one of the hottest spots in the country. The sun was beating down and the pavement was heating up as the runners stretched before the first mile.
"Most people don't know this," Brigadier General Dana J.H. Pittard told the group, "but we are at the same latitude as Baghdad out here."The group ran the first mile together. Most of the runners, including Pittard, stuck around for the second mile. After that, the core group started switching off, relay-style, for the rest of the 26 miles they tackled that day. At the end of each mile the group planted a small American flag in the ground.
"We are also placing placards with information about each service member," Bellona said. "We worked with about 20 schools [to make] them, so that people can learn a little bit about each of the fallen." Each placard is a laminated piece of paper, usually with a photo, that contains some facts about the fallen soldier, Marine, airman or sailor the mile is dedicated to. They are being put up in chronological order of their death.
The group is running across Texas this weekend, and they're encouraging everyone to run a mile in their own towns on August 24, when they plan to finish the run at Arlington National Cemetery. The group decided on their final location when the run was only 4,100 miles long.

Anti-Obama Sentiments Felt In Orlando Florida
So the folks in Florida are anti-Obama huh? Wow!!! But, who cares really. Get over it already. The dude is the democratic nominee and he ain't going anywhere anytime soon.
Anyways, the reported incident occured at the Orlando City Hall in Orlando, Fl. More than 60 vehicles were spray painted with things like "Obama smokes crack", and other racial slurs. But the kicker, is that the vandals left business cards of supporters of Hillary Clinton. Of course the Clinton camp came right back and issued this statement: "There's no tolerance for this kind of activity in the political process. Hillary Clinton strongly supports Barack Obama and urges all of her supporters to do the same." I refuse to believe that Hillary or any of her people would stoop this low. I know they're still a little bitter, but are we 16?</p>
Black Students At A High School Are Given "Ghetto" Names In A Yearbook.
“Tay Tay Shaniqua,” “Crisphy Nanos” and “Laquan White” are some of the fake “ghetto” names placed under photos of African American Students at Charter Oaks High School in a suburb of Los Angeles. A few of the students suspect that the act was a tasteless prank but they, as well as their parents, remain outraged. “A yearbook is very significant and something you always hold on to,” said Toi Jackson, whose daughter, Evanne, is member of the school’s Black Student Union. “When she shows it to her kids she will have to explain why she has the name Crisphy.” The local school board president called the act atrocious and said he has identified the student responsible. To add insult to injury, the school passed out stickers with the correct names for the students to place in the yearbook. For parents of the affected students, that gesture is not enough. They are demanding a full reprint of the yearbook.
That damn school board whould be seeing my face every damn day if that was my child. And to compensate for this embarrassment you give out stickers for kids to place over the names? Give me a break. You know more than half those kids aren't going to put those stickers over the names. That shouldn't even been an option. A full reprint should have been done. No if's, ands or buts!!!

Oldie: Girl Sues Company For Winning a Toy Yoda
Another oldie, but definitely funny still. This chick, Jodee Berry from Panama City, FL worked at a local Hooters. Berry thought she hit the jackpot when her boss told her that she had won the prize for getting the most beer sales in the restaurant. When she was blindfolded and let out to the parking lot, Jodee was presented with her prize; A Toy Yoda... you know the little green guy from Star Wars. Jodee thought that she was going to win a Toyota car. It's obvious that a Toy Yoda is not the same as a Toyota. Ha ha ha ha. I love the play on words here! Jodee sued her employer. Yeah, I'd be a little pissed too!

Guiness Inducts Another Record Holder!
Can you believe this chick got into the Guinness Book of World Records for writing the longest post-doctoral thesis ever on an algebraic theory? I hope not, because it's damn sure not the truth. This chicks name is Maxi Mounds and she got into the Book of Records by having the worlds largest fake breasts. Their size, 36 triple M. *Wide eyed stare*... I'm just waiting for her to topple over any minute. I'm just trying to figure out, what would make a person want big ass boobs this damn size? I can't stand mine and I'm a D cup! I'd slit my throat if I had to deal with triple M's. I mean, she ain't a bad looking chick, but she ain't the best looking either, but she's a stripper and we know that they go to extremes like butt injections, collagen in their lips, etc... Her breasts weigh 20 pounds each and they're still growing. The technique that was used in this procedure is called polypropylene string and is banned in Britain and the United States for the dangers that it can cause. How this procedure works is the string that is implanted into the breast, irritates the breast causing the release of body fluids that inflates the affected area even more. "I’ve seen some pretty funny things happen. Men walking into things and getting slapped by their girlfriends because they were staring too hard." Maxi said. I wouldn't even be mad at my boyfriend for starring. Stare all you want buddy. Hell touch em' if you want because you ain't eeeeeeeeever gonna get close to nothing like that ever again!

19 yr old Wins $35 Million Powerball
19 year old Jonathan Vargas got lucky over the weekend. He is now the $35 million richer and that is a really good thing. He's a construction worker and the second oldest of five children. How he picked his numbers for the winning ticket? Simple, his two younger brothers turn 12 and 14 this year, his sister turns 15, his older brother will be 21, and mom just turned 43 earlier this year. The powerball number, "Just a lucky guess" Vargas says.
I pray that he does the right thing by the money. He seems like a really good kid. Really humble. He says that he has no real big plans for the money at the moment. He wants to establish a trust fund for his siblings. "You never ask the Lord why you are blessed," he said. "I'm not going to ask the Lord why he put it in my hands."
