I do not see why everyone is acting so surprised. Hip Hop does not like dark skinned girls. Look at the most played videos of the so called hottest artists, there are no dark skinned women. If there are any they are behind the mixed and Latina girls. Kayne said it best:”If it wasnt for race mixing, their would be no videos”. Hip Hop would rather have no videos than to use a “dark butt”. What Yung Berg said was just downright stupid and he let it be known to the world what an ignorant and immature person he is. If light skinned women are his preference, then that's cool, there is nothing wrong with that. But to be totally disrespectful of the darker skinned women is just downright mean and hateful. All Black women are beautiful whether light or dark skinned. He should have just kept his mouth closed and kept his thoughts about darker skinned women to himself if thats the way he feel about them. Wow! I was taken aback by the comments of this young man, but now that I have read them, I must say I am not mad. I am a fairly dark-skinned sista, and at one time had a complex about my skin. However, as I continue to hear and read the negative comments about me and my skin, it is the actions of others that convince me that many people really wish they could look like me. If it wasn’t so, why are tanning salons the most sought after places among other cultures? Oh Joe, say it isn’t so, but it is true, the world wish it could be me. I can not be mad at this brotha or anyone else who criticize dark-skinned women. After all, their pure unadulterated ignorance illuminates the lack of good judgment set forth by their parents to teach them and explain how human life originated and where. If I haven’t learned anything in life from being a teacher, I have learned these two things, (1) The apple doesn’t fall to far from the tree, and (2) children and parents are a reflection of their parents. The best we can do for this young man is pray and educate him and others like him, as best we can. My dark-skinned sistas, love the skin you are in. Never take your clues from words, when actions speak louder. The world wants to be me, and everyday they show me just how much.
