Estelle Getty of the hit tv series, Golden Girls, has passed away this morning at 5:30 a.m. She had suffered from advanced dementia for a while and past away at her Hollywood Boulevard home, said her son, Carl Gettleman of Santa Monica."The Golden Girls," featuring four female retirees sharing a house in Miami, grew out of NBC programming chief Brandon Tartikoff's belief that television was ignoring its older viewers. It was always funny to watch her character and how she was supposed to be the oldest on the show, but in actuality, she was the youngest.
