K-Swift Laid To Rest

Thousands of fans filed into Morgan State University's auditorium today to pay their final respects to Baltimores "Club Queen", Khia "DJ K-Swift" Edgerton's. From today's services, fan learned more about the young lady that they have grown to love over the years. Speakers talked about her accompishments such as recording artist, radio personality, leader of an underground music movement. But during the two-hour music-filled ceremony, those fans learned how Edgerton rose from spinning records in her family's basement at age 11 to becoming "K-Swift," leader of Baltimore's club music scene.

Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon attended a memorial service yesterday and Gov. Martin O'Malley attended the funeral today and issued an official proclamation honoring Edgerton."But there's no more important proclamation than each of you here," O'Malley said, referring to the crowd of about 2,500 inside the Murphy Fine Arts Center.About 100 more people were turned away at the door when the facility reached capacity.

K-Swift passed away early Monday (July 21) from an accidental neck injury sustained during a swimming pool incident.

Wow... that's so sad.... to have a woman so young, vibrant, and talented leave so soon on a fluke is a terrible loss. I must say they really gave her a blessed homecoming though. Sorry for the loss of your friend.
