I was listening to a popular radio station here in Atlanta this morning, when I heard the news that radio sensation and "clubqueen" KSwift, of Baltimore, MD, past away last night in an accidental pool drowning.
K-Swift, born Khia Edgerton, was just 28-years-old, at the time of her death. She began DJ'ing at the early age of 11 and was highly influenced by other ladies on the turntables such as Cocoa Channel and Jazzy Joyce. K-Swift broke ground on Baltimore’s Radio One station 92Q Jams, where she rose to Female Mix Show Coordinator and was the only female in the country to hold the title.
She was also a member of the Violator-All Star DJ Coalition, as well as a member of the all female squad the Murda Mami’s. "I'm at a loss for words right now,” Murda Mami founder 1st Lady El told AllHipHop.com. “K-Swift was not only one of my Murda Mami sisters, she was a great friend. She knocked down doors for women in this industry, so humble and hard working. Legendary in the club music scene and the number one DJ in Baltimore. She will be missed."
In addition to being the only female record pool director in Baltimore (Direct Drive Record Pool), K-Swift also owned Club Queen Entertainment, a graphics management and production company. Information about what actually happened, is still trying to be figured out. From what I hear, the family is out of town and they didn't want to say anything about it on the radio in Baltimore until the family found out.
***UPDATE***
It was confirmed and announced by a member of the 92Q fam that K-Swift’s cause of death was that she suffered a broken neck at her pool party last night either because of or before she entered her pool. There will also be a candlelight vigil tonight in Baltimore from 6p-10pm at 1700 White Head Road. A statement has been posted on the 92Q website:
We are deeply saddened and it is our deepest regret to inform you that the 92Q family, the music industry, and the community has suffered an incredible loss. Early Monday morning, Khia Edgerton, better known as, K-Swift, passed away.
K-Swift has been with 92Q for ten years and in that time she grew to become one of our most popular DJs and known throughout the world as the Baltimore club queen.
She leaves behind a mother, a sister, and a large extended family.
This is terrible loss and a terrible day for 92Q and the entire community.
As a tribute to K-Swift, 92Q will be running without on air personalities for the rest of the day and airing special memories of K-Swift. If you would like to share your thoughts and memories of K-Swift, please call 410-907-0411.
Thank you for keeping K-Swift’s family and the 92Q family in your thoughts and prayers.

SHE DID NOT DROWN, SHE DIVED INTO THE POOL, AND HIT HER HEAD VERY HARD ON THE CONCRETE!! gET THE STORY RITE BEFORE YOU TRY TO POST A WRITE-UP ABOUT THE SITUATION!!
Hold on now... I had to comment on this... Hopefully you took the time to actually READ what I said in the blog. It was indeed an "accidental drowning" and I also stated that the details of what exactly happened are still trying to be figured out. I received my info from the radio and a source that I know at the radio station. So please to not jump on me unless you plan to jump on EVERY other media outlet out there who have received the same information. I heard this early this morning around 7am, so I'm pretty sure that no one really had a true depiction of what happened. I apologize for you not quite understanding what I wrote. As I stated, everyone is free to speak their peace on my blog, and I love the feedback, so I take no offense, but I will defend myself and my writing. I will not go back and forth about someone who is very near and dear to many such as yourself. So hopefully this is the end of this. May she rest in peace!

The story about K-Swift broke on V-103 in Atlanta around 8:45-8:55 am. I live in GA but had the Pleasure of attending High School With Swift at Randallstown High School. Class of 96. Frank Ski did a confrence call with Marc Clark from 92Q which I don't believe that Marc Clark knew that he was LIVE ON THE AIR... He stated that There was Drinking at the pool party that Swift had at her home & that she had died. He didn't go into details and also stated that the family had not been notified. It is always sad when you lose a friend. And Khia was just that a friend. There will be a lot of Sadness in Baltimore for weeks to come. She was the Realest. Nicest. Most genuine person that you ever want to meet. R.I.P Khia "K-Swift" Edgerton.

It's a terrible lost for such a beautiful young woman whom I know very little about but I heard so much from other people. My love, support and heart goes out to her family, close friends and love ones. Because I don't wish such a death or any death upon no young woman as beautiful as she was. She's definitely in a better place now because she's a GODS child so guess what yall he got her now and guess what I've heard that's a beautiful place HEAVEN. The bible says that no one dies when you get there, so everyone should grieve her love in peace. I read a few of the comments and I noticed that two people passed words about her death it's not important. Please let her family mourn, Baltimore has a bad enough reputation so to argue about what's right and wrong about her death its so high school people for once let this be a peaceful city, because other than this city is HELL ON EARTH.
I was in Jamaica when I heard the news, and I must say that it really hurt to hear something like this. I will continue to pray for k-swifts family she will be missed dearly.
