Jay-Z was honored last night in New York City at the U.N. Global Leadership Awards Gala for his efforts to bring clean water to the people in Africa while he's been touring the continent for the past few weeks.
Even though Jay was flying solo without his wife Beyonce last night, the rap star had no problems talking about wanting a family...eventually.
Even though Jay was in Africa and feeling a bit philantropic, he didn't pull a Branjelina or Madonna move by bringing some poor little African baby back to the states. When asked if he wanted to, he simply stated, "No," chuckling a bit, "I don't want to bring any kids home."
But Jay-Z does want babies of his own. "Most people dream of having a family someday," he told reporters. "So I'm just a regular American boy." In the meantime, he's focused on his humanitarian work – noting that more than 2 billion people don't have access to clean water.
"Many charities, you close your eyes and cross your fingers and hope that the money gets to the people who really deserve it," he said. "But with this, I got to go to Africa, see the water pumps. I got to see the kids turn them on."
Thats what I'm talking about. If you want something done right... you gotta do it yourself!!!
