Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns Becomes a TV Sitcom

The Turner Broadcasting Station (TBS) recognizes a good thing (money) when they see it. And they've definitely struck a gold mine in putting Tyler Perry on to their staff.

Another Tyler Perry play has been tapped as part of the networks line up. Meet The Browns will be TBS' newest show come January 2009. This comes after the tremendous success that Tyler Perry has had with the current show on that station "House of Payne"which has aired 100 episodes since it's start.

Just like with The House of Payne, TBS will start out slow with Meet The Browns by only ordering just 10 episodes for January 2009. Then again, the release implies that this 10-episode run of “Meet the Browns” could mean more episodes forthcoming if it does well.

According to a press release:

“Meet the Browns” stars David Mann as Leroy Brown, a character who earlier this year was featured in Perry’s hit film of the same name.  He has also appeared in several episodes of “House of Payne” on TBS. Perry’s new series begins after Brown inherits a dilapidated house from his deceased father.

I'm just itching to see what this cast will look like. Of course, I'm sure Brown and his wife will be on this show, but I doubt if any of the others from the movie make it on there.

“House of Payne” has 26 new episodes set starting in December with production beginning in September.
