"Why Did I Get Married Too" Being Filmed... Yeaaaa!

I'm super geeked that Tyler Perry decided to do a sequel to his $55 million movie "Why Did I Get Married". The sequel is titled "Why Did I Get Married Too" and will star all of the cast that was in the original film except Denise Boutte, who played Trina, the hooker who befriended Jill Scott and stole her raggedy ass husband. So with that news I'm wondering what will be Richard T. Jones' role? Will he try to fight the Sheriff for Jill Scott or will this one be about Lamon Rucker and Jill Scott going through ups and downs? I can't wait. I loved the first one, so I'm sure this one will prove to be just as good.

The movie is set for release on April 2, 2010, the start of next year's Easter weekend. In true Tyler Perry form, the first flick, 'Why Did I Get Married?,' was based on Perry's stage play.

Tyler Perry Working On Next Movie

Fresh off of a fantastic weekend at the box office with the opening of his latest installment of Madea foolishness with 'Madea Goes To Jail', which raked in over $44 million, Tyler Perry is already working on his next movie.

While he's been talking about doing a film with Diana Ross and wanted a sequel for 'Why Did I Get Married?' Tyler Perry's next film will be an adaptation of his stage play, 'I Can Do Bad All by Myself,' featuring, once again... Madea.

As with Perry's other films, the script will be different from what his fans have seen on stage. According to producer Reuben Cannon, filming will commence next month in Atlanta. They are in the process of casting roles for the film.

I have to admit... I liked "Why Did I Get Married" but solely because he wasn't playing Madea. But I'm wondering will there ever come a time when Tyler won't appear in his own movies? I mean damn... he's becoming the Diddy of the movies! You produce, write, and direct, AND you got to be in them too? Geesh!

Tyler Perry Accused Being Unfair

The Writers Guild of America West is taking on Tyler Perry. The guild on Thursday filed an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board against House of Payne LLC, the production shingle for the Perry-owned syndie/TBS comedy "House of Payne" and the upcoming TBS spinoff "Meet the Browns."

Guild alleges that Perry fired four writers on "House of Payne" and "Meet the Browns" earlier this week in retaliation for their efforts to negotiate a WGAW contract for scribes on the show. Matt Johnson, Perry's attorney, denied the accusation, saying in a statement that the guild "misrepresented the facts." Johnson said that four of the seven writers employed on "Browns" were let go "because of the quality of their work."

The guild's filing claims that "House of Payne" and "Browns" writers Kellie Griffin, Christopher Moore, Teri Brown-Jackson and Lamont Ferrell were fired this week by Perry after having sought to negotiate a WGAW contract for the show since April. Moore, Brown-Jackson and Ferrell are members of the WGAW; Griffin is not.

The filing also accuses Perry's company of "negotiating in bad faith" with the guild during the past six months. Johnson countered that the company has come to terms with the WGAW on a contract for the "Browns" scribes on every point but the issue of residual payments should repeats of the cable production air on broadcast TV.

WGAW said the four writers and other supporters would mount a picket line outside Saturday's opening night event for the Tyler Perry Studios facility in Atlanta.

Perry, a prolific scribe who has written and directed more than six movies and his TV skeins during the past four years, has never been a member of the WGA. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild.

Tyler Perry Feeds The Homeless

Writer-director Tyler Perry is planning to distribute food to more than 1,000 hungry families today here in Atlanta!

Perry will pass out the food at the Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless center, after hearing the facility had a shortage of food because it feeds a high population of working families hit by today's economy, says the Associated Press.

The Family That Prey's Premiere

The New York premiere for Tyler Perry's latest movie "The Family That Prey's" went down at Lowes Theater last night. Seems like the entire cast was in the house and it looks like fun times!
Taraji P. Henson, Alfre Woodard, and Sanaa Lathan
Sanaa looks gorgeous as usual
Not sure if I'm liking Taraji's dress, but I loves the shoes.
Naturi Naughton formerly of 3LW... remember them?
Sanaa's makeup was on point
Why does Tyler Perry's face look ashy?
Rockmond Dunbar and his date. Why is this dude sexy to me?
Alfre Woodard was sporting a cute look
Ok... this is the chick that is going to be starring in the new BET series "Sombodies"... her name is Kaira Whitehead, but do you remember her as the ghetto baby mama from Tyler's last movie, "Why Did I Get Married"?
Sebastian Siegel... he's cute but I need him to lay off the tanning salons just a bit

Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns Becomes a TV Sitcom

The Turner Broadcasting Station (TBS) recognizes a good thing (money) when they see it. And they've definitely struck a gold mine in putting Tyler Perry on to their staff.

Another Tyler Perry play has been tapped as part of the networks line up. Meet The Browns will be TBS' newest show come January 2009. This comes after the tremendous success that Tyler Perry has had with the current show on that station "House of Payne"which has aired 100 episodes since it's start.

Just like with The House of Payne, TBS will start out slow with Meet The Browns by only ordering just 10 episodes for January 2009. Then again, the release implies that this 10-episode run of “Meet the Browns” could mean more episodes forthcoming if it does well.

According to a press release:

“Meet the Browns” stars David Mann as Leroy Brown, a character who earlier this year was featured in Perry’s hit film of the same name.  He has also appeared in several episodes of “House of Payne” on TBS. Perry’s new series begins after Brown inherits a dilapidated house from his deceased father.

I'm just itching to see what this cast will look like. Of course, I'm sure Brown and his wife will be on this show, but I doubt if any of the others from the movie make it on there.

“House of Payne” has 26 new episodes set starting in December with production beginning in September.
