Anika Noni Rose Lands First African American Princess

"It's the most thrilling thing," says Rose, the Tony Award winner who you're likely to remember from her work as Lorrell in the movie Dreamgirls, which also starred Jennifer Hudson and Beyoncé. "It's been a dream of mine since I was a little itty-bitty person to be a Disney voice."
The film will also set a historic moment with it being Disney's first African-American princess.
Nice!

Rza Wants Chris Brown For Movie Project

If you were born before 1990, then you should know that one of the best classic "ghetto" kung fu movies was The Last Dragon. Mmmm Mmmm... that damn Taimak was the cutest thing to me back then! Sorry ya'll!
Wu-Tang Clan co-founder/director/actor Rza is supposedly doing a remake of the cult classic as his latest movie project. And who does Rza have in mind to fill in for cutie pie Taimak's character Leroy "Bruce Leroy" Green?... that's right... Chris Brown with his ol' hop around the stage ass.
Rza has already spoken with CB and his people regarding the flick. According to XXLMag.com Rza said, "I holla'd at Chris and he seemed very interested, I never -- I didn't holla at Rihanna. But I holla'd at Chris one day. You know we came across each other in the studio, and I saw him at one of those award shows, and I said, 'I really got you at the top of the list to bring this character back' and he said that he actually loved the character. He said he loved Bruce Lee and he's a fan of The Last Dragon. I was like, wow, that's cool cause there's four of us that votes on it, but my vote is on him."
All of the movie talk went down before the Chrihanna-Gate situation took place but doesnm't make a difference or sway his thoughts on Chris as the main charachter. I just want them to give us a cameo of Taimak! I need to see if he is aging gracefully as fine as he was back in the day!!!

Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence Together In New Movie

Tracy Morgan and Martin Lawrence are joining Chris Rock in Screen Gems and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment's remake of "Death at a Funeral" according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Joining Lawrence and Rock will be Loretta Devine, Ron Glass, Danny Glover, Regina Hall, Zoe Saldana, James Marsden and Columbus Short.
The storyline goes like this: a comedy in which a funeral ceremony turns into a debacle of misplaced cadavers and family secrets. When things can't get any worse, a man arrives saying he's the dead man's gay lover and threatens blackmail.
I'm not too fond of that synopsis. It sounds like a spin-off to that stupid movie Kindom Come...uggghhh!!!

Tyler Perry Working On Next Movie

Fresh off of a fantastic weekend at the box office with the opening of his latest installment of Madea foolishness with 'Madea Goes To Jail', which raked in over $44 million, Tyler Perry is already working on his next movie.
While he's been talking about doing a film with Diana Ross and wanted a sequel for 'Why Did I Get Married?' Tyler Perry's next film will be an adaptation of his stage play, 'I Can Do Bad All by Myself,' featuring, once again... Madea.
As with Perry's other films, the script will be different from what his fans have seen on stage. According to producer Reuben Cannon, filming will commence next month in Atlanta. They are in the process of casting roles for the film.
I have to admit... I liked "Why Did I Get Married" but solely because he wasn't playing Madea. But I'm wondering will there ever come a time when Tyler won't appear in his own movies? I mean damn... he's becoming the Diddy of the movies! You produce, write, and direct, AND you got to be in them too? Geesh!

Tyrese Gets More Faster and Even More Furious!

In an exclusive interview picked up Hollyscoop.com, Tyrese Gibson said on camera that he would be joining Vin Diesel and Paul Walker in 'Fast And Furious', the fourth installment of the franchise. Gibson appeared in the second film, '2 Fast 2 Furious' as Roman Pearse.
In this big reunion film, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker reteam for the ultimate chapter of the franchise built on speed -- 'Fast & Furious.' Heading back to the streets where it all began, they rejoin Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster to blast muscle, tuner and exotic cars across Los Angeles and floor through the Mexican desert in the new high-octane action-thriller. I'll keep ya posted on the release!
Vanessa Simmons To Star In Hip Hop Dance Movie

I love Vanessa and all, but I've seen her on Guiding Light... she's "aiight". But I guess it doesn't matter since she's only been acting for a few years, and not to mention that this is a "D" list movie, especially with it being done by pedaphile Chris Stokes.
'Boogie Town,' is said to be a modern day West Side Story for the hip hop generation. The story takes place in a New York City in the not so distant future. In a society where battle dancing has been outlawed, illegal dance contests now take place in the underground world of 'Boogie Town.' Micah (Houston) and Jay (Mykal Anthony Bean), leaders of rival dance crews, possess 'Herculean' powers which take the battles to extreme levels. Despite the animosity between the two crews, Micah falls in love with Jay's beautiful sister Natalie and the two become a future-day Romeo and Juliet.
Sooooo, what is it... a dance version of Romeo and Juliet, or another spin on You Got Served? *YAWN* to the tenth damn power! That's what it is!

Buffie the Body and Rabbit In New Teen Comedy.

James recently told Blackvoices.com that the film is a coming-of-age comedy about four guys fresh out of high school and their pre-occupation with music video models. Why do I envision movies like "Phat Beach" and "Cookout" when I think of this movie. You know... those straight to DVD generic looking movies.

Jaden Smith The Next Karate Kid?

Columbia Pictures is back in the dojo with a new version of the 1984 hit "The Karate Kid," which has been refashioned as a star vehicle for Jaden Smith, son of Will and Jada-Pinkett Smith. Of course the movie is being produced by Jerry Weintraub (who launched the original franchise) and Overbrook Entertainment's James Lassiter, Will Smith and Ken Stovitz. Will Smith, co-starred with his 10-year-old son in Jaden's first movie "The Pursuit of Happyness," which Overbrook and Escape Artists produced for Columbia.
The script is being written by Chris Murphy, and the film will shoot next year in Beijing and other cities. While the new film will be set in that exotic locale, it will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor. The younger Smith, who next stars in "The Day the Earth Stood Still," is a martial arts practitioner so now he can put his moves to use on screen and show the world what he's workin with!

Big Momma 3 In The Making?

Over the weekend in Los Angeles, producer David Friendly, who was doing interiews for his latest film, 'Soul Men', stated that he's looking to get 'Big Momma's House 3' in theaters in 2009. While there is no script in place at this point, he's confident that both Martin Lawrence and Nia Long will come back and reprise their roles.
Both Big Momma's House (2000) and Big Momma's House 2 (2006) were box office hits with $117 million dollars and $70 million dollars respectively. Released by 20th Century Fox, both films centered on Martin Lawrence as an undercover FBI agent using a fat suit to impersonate a Southern granny. In the last film, Martin was married to Sherry, who was expecting his baby. He's being booted off the FBI, so he tries to prove that he's a much-needed fixture in the Bureau by getting involved in a case that he has no business getting involved in. He goes in with the nanny outfit to get the job, and investigate some fraudulent activity where the U.S. defense is concerned.
I'm just hoping that if they do actually do a BM3, that will be the end of it. *SIGH*... I don't care for another one of these, but I would like to see Martin and Will in a Bad Boys 3... I love those two together on the screen!

Don Cheadle Replaces Terrence Howard In Iron Man Sequel

According to TheHollywoodReporter, Don Cheadle has been picked to replace Terrence Howard in the sequel "Iron Man 2".
Cheadle will take Howards place as Jim Rhodes, Iron Man's best friend, who also had dreams of stepping into the superhero role as War Machine. One scene featured Howard looking at a silver suit of armor and saying "Next time," a line that many fans would deem as exciting, just for the simple fact that you knew that there would be a follow up to the summer hit.
Sources close to the deal said negotiations with Howard fell through over financial differences, among other reasons. Marvel, which had wanted to work with Cheadle, then decided to take the role in another direction and approached the actor, who is shooting Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest" with Richard Gere and Ethan Hawke. Rhodes is expected to play a larger part in the sequel, which is rumored to go beyond high-tech villains.
Robert Downey Jr. is expected to comeback as billionaire industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow also is expected to be back as Stark's assistant, Pepper Potts. Cheadle, repped by UTA, most recently starred in "Traitor," a thriller on which he was also a producer. He will next be seen in DreamWorks' "Hotel for Dogs."
