The Game May Be Newest BET Sitcom

It started out as a spin-off to the hit show 'Girlfriends' back in 2006, but soon after, 'The Game' became a favorite among millions of households... but not enough to sustain the blow of being cancelled like it predecessor.

Although the show was cancelled from its home network, The CW, in May of this year, Mara Brock-Akil and co. have been hard at work getting the show resurrected over at another network- BET.

Sources tell that BET may be close to finalizing a deal to actually be the new home of the sports-themed comedy. A network source also says that BET's new co-President Loretha Jones has been aggressively working to secure the budget to make the deal a reality.

From a business standpoint, BET airing a new season of 'The Game' would help kick-start their pursuit to be in the scripted programming business a la TBS and Lifetime. Additionally, since ratings for the re-runs of 'The Game' on BET outperform most original programming on the network, airing new episodes of the sitcom could be a ratings juggernaut for the channel. Even though this deal is not finalized yet, just know that the final buzzer has not sounded on 'The Game.'

Who Cares: Game To Do Anger Management

The Game was in court today where he had to answer to the charges of criminal battery for a family brawl which took place at the funeral of one of his cousins.

A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge gave The Game an ultimatum to participate in anger management classes or go to jail on criminal battery charges today, says TMZ.

As previously reported, Game was involved in a funeral scuffle with his cousin, Robert "Kirky" Kirkwood. According to reports of the incident, the Compton MC promised to finance part of his cousin's funeral but backed out when it was time to ante up the cash. Game then showed up at the funeral where he spoke about the importance of family values.

After the funeral, Kirkwood claimed he wanted to talk to Game about the cash but an argument started, ending with the rapper punching his him in the face.

Despite Game's reported aggression, the judge agreed to let him skate on jail time as long as he completes 36 anger management classes by February 2009.

If convicted of the criminal battery charges, Game could have faced a significant amount of time in jail.

The Game Charged With Battery For Funeral Brawl

The Game has been reportedly charged with criminal battery for allegedly punching his cousin during a family funeral last month.

According to TMZ, the Hawthorne City Attorney officially charged the rapper (real name: Jayceon Taylor), after his cousin Robert "Kirky" Kirkwood filed a police report days after the funeral of Game's cousin and Kirkwood's sister.

The altercation was reportedly over money. Kirky told TMZ that he and Game got into an argument outside the church where the service was held, over the cost of the funeral, which he says the rapper agreed to pay for.

Kirky claims Game agreed to cover the funeral costs, but when it came time to pay up, the rapper left him and his family with the bill.

Game later explained that he felt as though his relatives were trying to extort money from him when he felt it wasn't his obligation.

The rapper said he did agree to pay for the casket and flowers, but Kirky's family rejected to the offer.

"I feel like they were just trying to play me out of [$17,000]," Game said during an interview on Arizona's 98.3 radio station back in July. "I talked to my mom about it. My mom said 'you should pay for the casket and the flowers, if you wanna do anything.' They rejected that because they wanted me to pay for the whole thing."

After the family squabble, where Game allegedly punched Kirky, the rapper said his family was now his worst enemy.Referencing a line from the late Notorious B.I.G. Game said, "Mo money, mo problems. Now, my family is my worst enemy. I hate them more than I hate 50 man."

According to TMZ, Game is currently on probation for a previous firearms offense -- which landed him in jail earlier this year -- and if convicted of this new battery charge, a judge could violate him and throw in jail.
