Snoop Dogg & Astronaut Buzz Aldrin... Who Would Have Thunk It?

What the dizzle D-O- double Gizzle??? Snoop Dogg and the first man to walk on the moon, famed astronaut Buzz Aldrin in the same room... let alone the same booth?

Astronaut Buzz Aldrin, well-known as the second man to ever step foot on the moon, is expanding his repertoire, adding rap music.

The 79-year-old recently shot a music video for his single "Rocket Experience", as well as a behind the scenes of the making of the track with Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, and Quincy Jones.

"I'm not too good at carrying a tune, but I do have rhythm," Aldrin told USA Today of the song. His ShareSpace Foundation, which promotes science and exploration, is one of three beneficiaries of the song's iTunes sales.

"I want kids interested in space. It's their future."

The video for the song was a collabo with the guys over at FunnyOrDie.com, Will Ferrell's comedy website. The "making of Rocket Experience" spoof features Jones, a longtime friend, riffing about Aldrin's "great groove," as well as commentary from Snoop, Soulja Boy and Talib Kweli.

"Buzz has got the biggest buzz on the streets right now," Snoop Dogg says in the clip. "He's got Talib Kweli and (me) in the studio with him, and I only work with the best."

On a more serious note, the rapper says he signed on "because (Aldrin) pushes kids to achieve their dreams."

Aldrin also dropped an autobiography (with Ken Abraham), titled Magnificent Desolation: The Long Journey Home From the Moon, this week. It's available on Amazon.com for $17. While the track takes listeners back to the first lunar landing 40 years ago in July, the book details Aldrin battle with alcohol after following in Neil Armstrong's huge bootsteps.
