News You Need To Know...

If you're a Sprint/Nextel user and you've been wondering how to get the hell up out of your contract, then I've got some good news for you. In an one of the most significant legal rulings in the tech industry this year, a Superior Court judge in California has ruled that the practice of charging consumers a fee for ending their cell phone contract early is illegal. THAT'S RIGHT! And if you live in Cali and you have Sprint/Nextel, then their violating the law by not allowing you to end without any fees.

Even though this judgement is tentative, it orders Sprint Nextel to pay customers $18.2 million in reimbursements and, more importantly, orders Sprint to stop trying to collect another $54.7 million from California customers (some 2 million customers total) who have canceled their contracts but refused or failed to pay the termination fee. HOT DAMN!!! Does this mean that that -ish get's erased off my credit??? Well hell yes it does!

While an appeal is inevitable, the ruling could have massive fallout throughout the industry. Without the threat of levying early termination fees, the cellular carriers lose the power that's enabled them to lock customers into contracts for multiple years at a time. And while those contracts can be heinously long, they also let the carriers offer cell phone hardware at reduced (subsidized) prices. AT&T's two-year contract is the only reason the iPhone 3G costs $199. If subsidies vanish, what happens to hardware lock-in? Could an era of expensive, but unlocked, hardware be just around the corner? It's highly probable.

Of course, the carriers aren't going to take this lying down. Early termination fees are seen as critical to business, so carriers are expected to look for ways to reclassify the fees (such as by calling them "rates," part of the arcane set of laws that covers the telecommunications industry). The industry is also pushing for the federal government to step in and claim oversight over the early termination fee issue, which would invalidate any state ruling. The FCC is generally more tolerant of such fees, though Chairman Kevin Martin has proposed a plan whereby the fees are decreased the closer you are to the end of your contract.

The FCC may also buy the argument that, since carriers are nationally based (and consumers can use their phones anywhere in the country), that a single policy should apply across the nation, rather than creating a patchwork of legislation that could lead to confusion and chaos caused by having 50 different policies.

Is the early termination fee dead? Not yet, but it's looking a little haggard.

Eric Benet Is Happy For Halle

The sex-fiend himself has spoken! Eric Benet only has nice things to say when it comes to Halle Berry and her happiness.

"From the pictures, she looks great," Benet, 41, tells Usmagazine.com. "I haven't spoken to her – it's been a few years now – but I'm happy for her." Dang... ya'll haven't spoken in years? Was the break-up/divorce that bad? Halle and Eric divorced back in 2004 after only being married for three years. Even though he hasn't seen little miss Hahla, Eric says, "How could the baby not look good?"

The singer has been focusing on his new album, which will feature the woman with whom he has "an amazing relationship”: 16-year-old daughter, India. "There's a song on my record called, 'Still I believe,' where India sings background," Benet says. "India is quite the producer and songwriter herself. She has a beautiful voice and she plays guitar."

Love & Life (Warner Bros.) hits stores September 9.

50 Cent Finally Speaks About Vivica Fox Split

50 Cent is finally opening up about the break up between him and actress Vivica Fox. The couple dated briefly back in 2003, and broke up and no one knew exactly why. In a recent interview with Sister 2 Sister mag 50 tells how he felt that Vivica tried to steal his shine on the red carpet at an event in Monaco at the World Music Awards that year.

50 claims he invited Fox to the awards show as his date and made huge demands to make sure she could be a part of the show - but then she took over and became the event's host.He says, "She asked me would I mind if she did something on the show, and I said no. I got on the phone and I told people that was around me to make her able to present awards or do something. They made her the host."The event made the rapper realize Fox was all about business: "It turned into a business opportunity and it wasn't beneficial for me, so I moved away from it."And he insists his brief romance with the actress wasn't quite as torrid as the media reported - because he was too busy focusing on his own film career: "There was not a lot of action between me and Vivica at that point."

Soooooo basically, ol' girl got her grind on, but asked you... but because it wasn't beneficial to you, you dropped her? Dude, can you be anymore selfish. Hell... as far as I'm concerned, she didn't have to ask yo punk ass!

I Am Legend 2?

Will Smith's 2007 box office hit "I Am Legend", became the second-biggest non-sequel of 2007 with $584 million worldwide. If you hated the end as much as I did, then this should make up for it.

The films director Francis Lawrence has revealed that Warner Bros. is currently working on the prequel to the movie, and yes Will Smith is going to star in it as well. Francis Lawrence spoke to ShockTillYouDrop at Comic Con International and he confirmed rumours that he is working on the sequel. “Yes, yes, absolutely, we’re actually trying to crack that. We’re trying to figure out some ideas for it, but yes, it would be a prequel.” He did confirm that Will Smith, who’s done a couple of sequels in his career, would definitely be into doing more with the character. “In the prequel, it’s slightly different because it’s earlier. We were three years later so we did a lot of research into the way nature would have sort of overtaken the city, with the cracks in the streets and the weeds, so if it’s just back earlier, it’ll be slightly different so the approach will be different. We’re not positive of the time of the year, because if you go in winter, you can do some entirely different kinds of things.”

This is going to be really good. I love everything Will Smith does, so I can't wait to see what the cause of all the evacuation was.

Kanye West The Next Big HBO Hit?

The folks over at HBO are damn near chomping at the bit to try to figure out how they want to showcase the many faces of superstar rapper Kanye West. Long before the writers’ strike began last November, the network began discussing whether to team the rapper with executive producer Larry Charles (Curb Your Enthusiasm) for a yet-to-be-named, single-camera series that would follow the busy life of the Grammy-winning artist and his relationship with family and friends. One key insider says HBO is now looking for a writer — and some creative inspiration — before moving forward with the project: “We need to figure out how to capture Kanye in the right way.” Anything that allows him to gas on about his many talents should do the trick.

Sen Obama Condemns Ludacris Endorsement Song

Many musicians have made songs with lyrics pertaining to presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama. This time, I'm completely with Barack with saying that the song was offensive and out of order. Especially if it was meant to show Obama how much you appreciate him. Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee has condemned an endorsement song from Ludacris, in which the Atlanta MC criticizes rivals Hillary Clinton and John McCain.

The song “Politics: Obama Is Here” celebrates the achievement of Barack Obama by saying , "The first is destined and it’s meant to be”, but as the song continues and Luda starts in on Hillary Clinton and John McCain it get's ugly. I'm all for freedom of speech but why make something so historic so typical of "us"?

Ludacris references the bitter Democratic primary battle by stating “Hillary hated on you/So that b**ch is irrelevant.” Regarding Republican nominee John McCain, the rapper rhymes: “McCain don’t belong in ANY chair unless he’s paralyzed/ Yeah I said it cause Bush is mentally handicapped/ Ball up all of his speeches and I throw ‘em like candy wrap.”

Through his campaign team, Senator Obama released a statement condemning the song as offensive and typical of much of Hip-Hop’s current lyrical content. “As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to,” explained spokesman Bill Burton. “This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.” AMEN! Obama once stated that Ludacris was even on his iPod, and that point was also dully noted in Luda's song saying: “With a slot in the president’s iPod Obama shattered ‘em/ Said I handled his biz and I’m one of his favorite rappers."

In November of 2006, Ludacris met with Senator Obama at his Chicago office, where the Grammy Award winners discussed youth empowerment.

The rap has also drawn the wrath of WomenCount, a new organization co-founded by former Rock The Vote President/political commentator Jehmu Greene. "It is another example of hateful, sexist language being used on the campaign trail, and now is our moment to make it clear: not on our watch!” stated Rosemary Camposano, Communications Director, WomenCount PAC. “The leadership of both parties must step up to condemn such hateful speech and demand apologies. The Obama campaign has criticized the lyrics, but we call on the presumptive party nominee, who is the celebrated subject of the new song, to go even further: Publicly condemn the song. Demand an apology on behalf of the targets. Now."

Ludacris could not be reached for comment at press time.

Wierd -ish: Animal and Lady Gettin It On

This latest installment in controversial ads and shocking fashion photography come courtesy of Deutsch magazine. The subject of "the male fantasy" and the use of "ironic sexism" seems to come up a lot in conversation these days. The subjects of fantasy, tacit desire and impulse as they relate to the process of "reading imagery" deserves to come under The Foundation lens. Aside from this ad looking a bit on the beastiality side, it somewhat shows how men are animalistic and savages! What's your take on this ad?

Halle Berry Supports Barack

Halle is just one of the masses of individuals have have expressed their support for the Senator on clothing. Thomas Jones The Next Music Mogul?

New York Jets running back and Meagan Good's boyfriend, Thomas Jones is taking his love for music to the next level, with the launch of his new independent record label Outta Pocket Entertainment. He hopes the venture will serve as a vehicle to emerge as "more than your average record label," while spotlighting genres such as pop, hip-hop and rap.

"I want to put out classic music, that individuals will appreciate for years to come, in addition to making high-quality music," said the NFL star, who was featured in rap diva Trina’s video for "I Got A Thang For You" featuring Keyshia Cole.

Jones admits that growing up, he listened to all genres of music, from R&B, rap, country, heavy metal to jazz. Jones says that he wants to develop a label who's artists are not just recognized but respected all over.

The first artist to be featured on the Outta Pocket Entertainment label is Atlanta-based pop/R&B singer Myko. The crooner, who was introduced to Jones by label executives Latwan Wolfe and Rodney Mitchell, has caught the ears of music fans since opening for rap diva Trina, R&B artists Floetry and Bobby Valentino.

Deelishis Has An Ex Who's On The DL???

Think back to all of the men that you have heard Deelishis being associated with. Now listen to this story, because it's exactly that... a story. This is just a rumor as far as I'm concerened. I'm not closely knitted into the hip hop circle, so I haven't heard many things about this person on that level. But I swear, nothing ceases to amaze me anymore!

The author of the latest tell all "Hiding In Hip Hop", Terrence Dean, supposedly caught up with our girl Deelishis aka London Charles and they had a little pow wow and this is how that alleged sit down went:

Well, me and Deelishus were introduced to one another. She notices my book and we got to talking about it.

She was like, "Oh my God! We have to talk."

"No problem," I said.

"Okay, you know I used to date someone in the business, right?" She looks me in my eyes with her gorgeous smile.

"Well, who are you talking about?" I asked already knowing who she was referring to. I really wanted her to say his name.

"He is a rapper," she says coyly. I get that she is not going to say his name. So I try a different approach.

"Did he used to have long hair?"

She thinks for a moment and then looks at me shocked. She nods her head and says, "Yeah."

"What do you want to know?" I ask.

"I mean, do you know anything. I heard..." her voice trails off and she looks at me for some indication or confirmation.

"I know some things."

"Oh my gosh!" Deelishus squeals. She puts her hand over her mouth. "It's no secret. We all know."

"No, no, no," She continues to squeal and backs away from me. She starts laughing. "Are you serious?" ***Hint... Put ya hands...... where?

Kim Kardashian Puts On Her Dancing Shoes

I know that some of you have expressed your dislike for my many posts about Kim Kardashian, but I can't help it if this girl stays in the news and keeps herself relevant!!! Sorry!

Moving on... it's being reported that the star of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" will be the next in line of celebs to put on her Danskins and dancing shoes and step on stage for the next season of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars." But that's not all; It seems that Kims "momager, (the name that everyone so lovingly refer to her as), Kris Jenner, may be the next out of the courgar pool to hop on the DWTS band wagon as well.

The show's final cast will be revealed on Good Morning America sometime in late August.

Lebron James Covers Time

Lebron James is covering the U.S. issue Augusts Time magazine. On the inside, Lebron talks about how he doesn't see losing in this years Olympic games as an option.

The interviewer asks Lebron, So you're going to bring a hoops title back home to the U.S., the country that gave birth to the game, reared it and then lost the ball to more graceful global neighbors? "Absolutely," James responds. Guarantee it? "Absolutely."

I hope so. We can't go down in flames to teams such as Argentina and Puerto Rico like we did four years ago... that -ish can not happen again! NO SUH!!!!

Chris Brown and Ne-Yo To Do Remix

That's right folks... Chris Brown and Ne-Yo will be working for the same team and on the same project... well, not really. Wrigley's plans on putting a new spin to their gum jingles. They're going to incorporate an urban feel by having Chris Brown remix the Doublemint gum, and Ne-Yo will put his touch on Big Red.

Wrigley's will host a concert in New York tomorrow (July 29) to unveil the new jingles. Radio station Hot 97 is expected to give away tickets for the show as part of the promotion. An advertising campaign from New York's Translation Advertising, part of the IPG network, will launch shortly thereafter.

If you've seen Chris's video for his song "Forever", then you would have caught a glimpse or a hint into what was going on. At the beginning of the video, Chris eats a piece of Doublemint gum, and begins the chorus "double your pleasure, double your fun," which has long been the theme for Doublemint.

Whitney and Ray J Are Still Serious

For the longest, I had really hoped that Whitney would come to her senses on this one... but I guess not. Seems her and her boy-toy Ray-J are quite peaceful right now. They were seen leaving Villa Lounge in L.A. this weekend.

Meet Food Networks New Star...

I don't know if you guys like the Food Network as much as I do, but I was so enthralled with last nights finale of the next Food Network Star. The winner of the show was Aaron McCargo, Jr. from Camden, New Jersey. I was so pulling for him throughout the whole season. I had my doubts because dude just couldn't get it together when it came to being personable to the camera. But he obviously had what it takes to get the job done. His new show is called "Big Daddy's House", and it will air on Sundays at 1:30pm/12:30c.

Obama's Prayers To God Intercepted By Idiots!

When I read this the other day, I said I wasn't going to post it, but then I thought, why not? Why not show America how low people will stop when it comes to stopping the inevitable.

As you all know, presidential hopeful Barack Obama was in Jeruselum last week and before he left, he and his campaign team made a pre-dawn stop at Jeruselums famous Western Wall. Obama placed a prayer he had written in the wall and bowed his head while a rabbi read a psalm calling for peace in the holy city. One worshipper chanted "Obama, Jerusalem is not for sale" and "Jerusalem is our land" as the Illinois senator stood at the wall, a relic of the ancient Jewish temple destroyed during Roman rule nearly 2,000 years ago.

Of course the visit was a public event. Obama offered to partake in the tradition of the Wall and place a prayer into its cracks. But once he took off the requisite skullcap and left, an imbasile pulled a folded piece of paper from a crevice in the ancient wall and offered it to the mass-circulation daily Maariv, which is a Hebrew language newspaper. The paper then published Obamas private note in it's paper on Friday under the headline "Obama's note," provoked a storm of criticism in Israel over an intrusion into his relationship with God.

Dag on right it's an intrusion!!! And how dare this paper publish something so private! This man was offering a prayer to the Lord to give him wisdom and guidance and to protect his family and that prayer was intercepted by people who hate him? For what? Did they think he was going to offer a violent prayer of death and damnation on Isreal? People never cease to amaze me!
