Jazmine Sullivan Lands Her First Movie Role

Philly songstress and R&B newbie, Jazmine Sullivan is throwing her hat in the game of acting. Ms. Sullivan, who was just nominated for five Grammys, will be taking on her film role to begin shooting in April.

Her role will be in director Anthony Hemingway’s next movie titled, “Red Tails,” reports Billboard. “I play a singer who entertains soldiers,” says Sullivan, who will appear in the movie alongside current touring partner Ne-Yo. “I’m really just entertainment for them, but I kind of get a little relationship going with one of them. So that’s very exciting. I used to act when I was younger, in little plays,” adds Sullivan, who attended Philadelphia’s Creative and Performing Arts high school.“It never was really a passion of mine. It’s just something I did and I could do. Anything where I can be creative, I like to do.”

Jazmine is also working on a television project that is currently underwraps and has yet to be revealed.

She’s not yet sure about a fourth single from her debut album “Fearless,” and a follow CD appears to be on the back burner at the moment. “I haven’t discussed it with the label Atlantic,” Sullivan says. “They aren’t pressuring me yet. I think we all are trying to get (’Fearless’) heard worldwide. But I am thinking of songs these days.

“I took a break from writing. I didn’t have an inspiration or anything like that for a little while. But now it’s starting to come to me. I don’t like to force things; as they come to me, I put the ideas down and…roll from there.” As for going 0-for-5 at this year’s Grammy Awards, Sullivan said it’s all good. Her time will come. “I’m not at all upset,” said the artist, nominated for best new artist and in various R&B categories. “Everybody who was nominated pretty much was deserving. I have a long career ahead of me, so this is not my last Grammys, hopefully.”

Seattle Grace Get's Upgraded!

Grey's Anatomy is getting another splash of chocolate hottie in the mix of all of them McSteamy's and McDreamy's!

Enter Brandon Scott. I'm wondering how this will play into the exit is "Izzie"? Well, I'm speculating on that one, but it would be nice!

Brandon will come in as the new cutie at Seattle Grace. His role isn't for sure going to be absolute. For now, he'll just have a recurring role and hopefully it will bloom into more! Either way, I'm glad to see him come on to the show. I gotta wonder who will be the first to throw their drawers at him though?

Thomas Jones The Next Music Mogul?

New York Jets running back and Meagan Good's boyfriend, Thomas Jones is taking his love for music to the next level, with the launch of his new independent record label Outta Pocket Entertainment. He hopes the venture will serve as a vehicle to emerge as "more than your average record label," while spotlighting genres such as pop, hip-hop and rap.

"I want to put out classic music, that individuals will appreciate for years to come, in addition to making high-quality music," said the NFL star, who was featured in rap diva Trina’s video for "I Got A Thang For You" featuring Keyshia Cole.

Jones admits that growing up, he listened to all genres of music, from R&B, rap, country, heavy metal to jazz. Jones says that he wants to develop a label who's artists are not just recognized but respected all over.

The first artist to be featured on the Outta Pocket Entertainment label is Atlanta-based pop/R&B singer Myko. The crooner, who was introduced to Jones by label executives Latwan Wolfe and Rodney Mitchell, has caught the ears of music fans since opening for rap diva Trina, R&B artists Floetry and Bobby Valentino.

New Booty To Da Game: Asher Roth

Is he just another white boy tryin to rock the mic like Em? Damn straight he is, but dammit he does the damn thang!!! His name is Asher Roth, and unlike Eminem, Asher hails from the burbs in Pennsylvania. His style and his flow is so ridiculous, that he has no choice but be a be as cocky as he is in his rhymes. He's got a mixtape that is fully endorsed by the infamous Affiliates (DJ Drama and Don Cannon) entitled The Greenhouse Effect, a year old record deal with Steve Rifkind’s SRC/Universal Records and a sizeable amount of Internet buzz... check da Myspace page

Will he be another MC Serch, or Vanilla Ice, or will he be the Beastie Boys wrapped up in one single pale as white boy and stand the test of the rap game and become an icon? Only time will tell that story. But for now, dude is here to stay. His humility when off the mic combined with the self-assurance he displays when in rhyme mode give the kid a good chance of sticking around. His debut album doesn't have a title yet and the 21-year old says that he's not giving it away just yet. Guess auditioning for and impressing Jay-Z must not have been a fluke after all?
