Chris Brown & Keri Hilson... Together Again

It's not like you all are thinking, it's more in a business perspective. Chris Brown certainly isn't letting his legal issues get in the way of trying to put together a new album.

Hitmaking/songwriter/singer Keri Hilson has signed on to help Chris out with his album. Keri says that he contacted her several days ago to come join him in the studio.

"He contacted me like four or five days ago," Hilson said earlier this week during a promotional appearance at Wet Seal in L.A.'s Beverly Center Mall. "Us working together will probably be the first project I've worked on as a songwriter in a while."

This wouldn't be the first time that these two have worked together, they sang a duet for "Superhuman," plus Hilson wrote "Young Love," which is a track on Chris Brown's first album. Even though Chris is currently facing a major legal battle with the alleged beatdown of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna, Hilson thinks his fans may stick with him.

"It is unfortunate what they are going through, but I always feel like if you've ever had a fan base, you're really only one song away from appeasing that fan base," she said. "Whether that song is autobiographical or whether you want to talk about that or not, you're just one hit song away. And that's what I think of the industry in a nutshell."

Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson? Collaborating?

I'm sitting here with my eyes closed, truly and sincerely trying to get a visual of this duo together on anybodies stage collaborating. And... I just can't see it... but Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson damn sure can.

So much so, that they will be getting together real soon. Ne-Yo says that he and Marilyn are totally serious about doing this. "It's going to be interesting," Ne-Yo said the other night at the L.A. premiere of The Secret Life of Bees. "I have no idea what we're going to do, what it's going to sound like. Just Ne-Yo and Marilyn Manson in the same room—we're going to figure something out."

Ne-Yo said he was approached by Manson's people after he boasted in a media interview that he's so flexible, he could even write a song for the rocker. I don't know though, it might be interesting. Ne-Yo is an excellent writer and can work wonders with an artist, so this is definitely a project I look forward to hearing.

Yes We Can CD On Sale On Obama Website

The Obama campaign has great support throughout these last few months, to which most has come in the form of musical appreciation.

Kanye West, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Wonder and a number of other avowed Obama supporters have lent songs to the fundraising album "Yes We Can: Voices of a Grassroots Generation", which went on sale today exclusively on the Democratic candidate's campaign website.

In addition to uplifting tracks from the aforementioned artists, the compilation includes John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change," Jackson Browne's "Looking East," Los Lonely Boys' "Make It Better," excerpts from Obama speeches and a dozen other feel-good tunes. Or, more pointedly, look-how-good-we-could-feel-if-we-elect-Obama tunes.

The diversity of the artists included "underscores how deeply inspiring this campaign has been across boundaries," Hidden Beach Recordings CEO Steve McKeever said Friday.

Downloadable versions and tangible CDs are $24.99 and $30, respectively, with all proceeds going to the Obama campaign.

Kim Kardashian A Singer?

Next up to be in the class of celebs to hit the mic with a resounding "What the...?" Kim Kardashian. Of course Kim has become widely popular off of her ass and sex with a nobody, but she wants to be bigger than that. Kimmy wants to sang!

Why for the life of me, would she want to sing, I don't know. Of course, I won't be too hasty in dogging her about it because I haven't heard what she's workin with vocally. But in regards to who tops Kims list for who she would like to work with... hands down...

“I'd say a little bit Michael Jackson in there,", she revealed on the Yo on E! satellite radio show. “I would love to work with, like, Timbaland as a producer and maybe Justin Timberlake.”

As a result, the she says that, “There's nothing in the works now,” as far as possible music projects music projects go. I guess I’ll have to wait a little longer for Kim’s long awaited sing-a-long remakes of Sir Mix-a-Lot’s “Baby Got Back” and Trina’s “Pull Over.” Stay tuned. If Paris can make a song and get a bit of airplay, then Kim can probably do the same. Makes you truly wonder… When I hear she's actually got a record deal, then I'll get real concerned!

Hip Hop Artists Come Together For Negro League Benefit CD

It is so great to see positive actions and works in the hip hop industry, especially in todays day and age of debauchery and tomfoolery going on. T Pain and many others like him are raising the bar constantly for the new bootys that decide to enter the game.

Stadium Entertainment has decided to do a compilation cdwants to shepherd a new business model designed to also capture and engage music consumers. The first project under its banner is the compilation CD "True to the Game."Comprising tracks featuring such top R&B/hip-hop artists as Kanye West, T-Pain and Akon, the CD will be released Oct. 21 and distributed by Pyramid/Fontana/Universal.

<>

Stadium has also inked a licensing deal with T-Pain's Miami-based Nappy Boy Digital label for the project's first single, "Beam Me Up."The song, featuring T-Pain, Rick Ross and introducing Nappy Boy artist Tay Dizm, is exclusively available digitally through Nappy Boy Digital.

Released last month, the single will be reserviced Aug. 22 and go for adds after Labor Day.A percentage of the proceeds from "True to the Game" will be donated to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Stadium plans to release two more compilations and a best-of CD in its agreement with the 18-year-old museum.

The Kansas City, Mo.-based facility will use the proceeds to help fund a $15 million education and research center to be housed within the historical landmarked building where the Negro Leagues were established in 1920."This is a legal mixtape on steroids," Stadium Entertainment head Camille Barbone says of "True to the Game," which will retail for $16.98. "This record has a diverse flow with G-rated lyrics. Some of the songs were recorded especially for this project, and some had already been written. And we wanted to make it a win-win by pairing emerging acts and protégés with well-known acts."

<> Track selections also include "Make Your Way to the Dance Floor" (Ziggy Nina featuring Chingy), "Around My Way" (Young Cash featuring Akon), "The Pursuit of Happiness" (GLC featuring West), "Knock It Outa Da Park" (Yung Joc) and "Ghetto Love" (Mario).Acknowledging only that the museum will receive "a generous percentage," Negro Leagues Baseball Museum director of marketing Bob Kendrick says the Stadium affiliation is "just an extension of our existing licensing arm. It's important for cultural institutions to find nontraditional revenue sources, especially in this difficult economy. But, more important, it's an opportunity for us to give this vital history a new voice through the power of R&B and hip-hop and enlighten a new generation of youth."

Fantasia Is Hard At Work

I had to give you guys the latest on my girl Fantasia. Why I love her so much is simply because she is Fantasia. She doesn't put on any aires about who she is or where she comes from. She can relate to most of us women who are going through it or have gone through it with her music.

Anyways, Gyant over at SOHH.com is reporting that he's gotten wind of Fanny being on her grind for her next album. The Grammy nominee is working with team over at Konvict Musik and the boys of Rock City to piece together this next project. They've already kicked out six songs for the untitled album and are hard at work on more. From what Gyant is saying about the songs that he's heard, Fantasia and her team are bringing us a new sound, but still the reminicsenct feel of the drama ladden life of most of her music that we all love. I can't wait!

Chris Brown and Ne-Yo To Do Remix

That's right folks... Chris Brown and Ne-Yo will be working for the same team and on the same project... well, not really. Wrigley's plans on putting a new spin to their gum jingles. They're going to incorporate an urban feel by having Chris Brown remix the Doublemint gum, and Ne-Yo will put his touch on Big Red.

Wrigley's will host a concert in New York tomorrow (July 29) to unveil the new jingles. Radio station Hot 97 is expected to give away tickets for the show as part of the promotion. An advertising campaign from New York's Translation Advertising, part of the IPG network, will launch shortly thereafter.

If you've seen Chris's video for his song "Forever", then you would have caught a glimpse or a hint into what was going on. At the beginning of the video, Chris eats a piece of Doublemint gum, and begins the chorus "double your pleasure, double your fun," which has long been the theme for Doublemint.

The New T-Wayne???

So T-Pain and Lil Wayne are a group now called T-Wayne??? Is that right? At least they make decent music together. Listen to what T-Pain has to say about his current project with Weezy F. Baby... please say da Baby!!!
“T-Wayne is an entity that’s just gonna take over a side of the game,” Pain prophesied. “It’s two artists that done collaborated with every artist in the industry except each other. Being that we getting together, this T-Wayne movement is getting crazy. “He’s sending me blank tracks, I’m sending him blank tracks,” Pain elaborated on the project. “He’s sending me tracks with hooks, I’m sending him tracks with hooks. It’s just our hectic schedules are keeping us from recording. … But we both have studios on the bus. So we take that tour bus anywhere we go — it’s a done deal.” Pain and Wayne collaborated on the next single from Tha Carter III, “Got Money,” as well as the first official single from Thr33 Ringz, “Can’t Believe It.”
‘Can’t Believe It,’ I just wanted to simplify things,” he said. “Basically I got a lot of stuff on my albums that’s not that simple. I’m not getting away from the simplicity of things, it’s just basically a way to calm things down. Then I put Wayne on it and he keeps murdering tracks I’m sending him. It’s just another world, it’s unexplainable.” Pain describes the meaning of Thr33 Ringz as music being a three-ring circus with him as the ringleader.

We Knew This Was Coming... The Game & Young Buck!

We all know that The Game and Young Buck are both former members of the G-Unit crew and both now have major beef with the HNIC of that crew, 50 Cent. Whatever beef these two had, is now old news since they both share a common interest... hate for 50. The mixtape that they are collaborating on will be released in July. As I stated...we knew this was coming. It was just a matter of time before one of them reached out to the other. This was indeed very predictable and I'm sure 50 is laughing his ass off right now. This is like that school yard beef; When you get into with one friend, you go and side with the other one that ya'll fell out with and ya'll team up on him! I don't know how well this will work, but it's going to be fun watching it play out!

Ne-Yo and Li-Lo?

Not as a couple, which I'm sure some of you were thinking. This duo is more on the lines as artist and hit song writer, the latter being Ne-Yo. Ne-Yo and producer Stargate had the pleasure of working with Lindsay Lohan on writing a song for her next album. Ne-Yo tells Billboard magazine;
"I gotta admit, we were like ... 'Lindsay Lohan? I mean, I've written for Beyonce, Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, Celine Dion and ... Lindsay Lohan?"
Ne-Yo says that he was amazingly surprised at Lohan's vocal abilities. He heard her sing on titled Bossy and says that he had to call Lindsay and apologize for not having faith in her. Yeah, she does alright with the singing and what not... but the question is, how long is she going to stay sober and when is she going to go back to being a red head. I'm so not feeling the blonde anymore!
