Mary J. Blige was out enjoying a day at the Diane von Furstenberg store last week in NY, when she overheard a girl having issues at the sales register. The girl had a dress on hold and initially thought the dress was $500. It turns out, the dress was actually $900 and the girl couldn't afford the dress. The girl was leaving the store when Mary told the saleswoman, "Go get the girl. I want to pay for the balance on the dress." The girl refused Mary's offer at first, but relented when the singer told her, "I know what it's like to want something and not be able to have it. I insist." The girl wanted to send Mary a check for her generosity, but Mary told the girl, "Just enjoy it. I'm blessed so let me do this." That's what I'm talking about right there! A contribution doesn't have to be this major thing that you need cameras and a whole lot of publicity for just to let folks know that you "give back". It's the little things like this that make a difference as well! Way to go Mary!
