Dwayne Wade Band-Aids Banned From Court

More league smack downs as far as dress code and player decorum go. Prior to the Miami Heat’s 91-83 loss to the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night, the NBA banned Heat superstar Dwyane Wade from donning the infamous signature band-aid that he's been wearing on his left cheek. Although the style isn't really new because Nelly was wearing similar band-aids when he first came out, D Wades look quickly became a fashion statement.

Wade, the league’s leading scorer, originally wore the Band-Aid to seal a cut beneath his left eye. In the following days, including during NBA All-Star Weekend, Wade slapped his name, nickname “Flash” and even the American flag on the Band-Aid, though the wound had healed.

The NBA, doing its best impression of the NFL, wanted to stop the self-promotion. “We spoke to (the Heat),” NBA spokesman Tim Frank said, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “A player can wear a Band-Aid for healthcare purposes, but it shouldn’t have any name or identifications on it.”

The league aims for conformity at the arena, where players are forced to abide by a strict dress code before and after the game. Citing Frank, the newspaper said that Wade and the Heat weren’t in danger of any penalty but needed a quick reminder.

“We offered clarity to them,” Frank told the Sun-Sentinel. “You can’t wear an identifiable Band-Aid. We don’t expect it to be an issue, so there will be no need for a penalty.” Two years ago, the NBA banned full-length tights under uniforms, which players had used as a fashion statement rather than for their intended medical use. The same now can be said for Wade’s rather unique facial accessory.

How about you NBA big wigs worry about your alcohol and drug addicted players and not the ones that just want to have a little fun all while doing their job and who aren't hurting anyone or anything! DAMN!!!

Richard Collier In Stable Condition After Surgery

Earlier this month, I did a post on the shooting of Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier. For the last few weeks, little has been reported on his condition or the motive behind the shooting. Today, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported that the 6ft 7, 345lb player has undergone another major surgery.

Collier is paralyzed below the waist and has had his left leg amputated, his doctors said today. They said Collier, who had 14 bullet wounds, is now in stable condition after being previously listed in critical condition.

Collier and former teammate Kenneth Pettway were waiting for two women outside an apartment complex early Sept. 2 when a gunman fired into the vehicle, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Pettway was not injured.

The motive behind the attack on Collier is unknown, but investigators said earlier he appeared to be targeted.

Collier was the third NFL player shot in the past 18 months. Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor was fatally shot during what police said was a botched burglary attempt at his Miami-area home in November. Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed when his rented limousine was sprayed with bullets minutes after leaving a New Year's party at a club in 2007

Baron Davis Joins Jenny Craig

LA Clippers basketball star Baron Davis is the latest celebrity to join the ranks of Jenny Craig to lose weight.

What motivated Baron to jump on the Jenny Train? It wasn't that he's too fat, or out of shape, it was Jenny’s latest celebrity endorser, Queen Latifah.

Davis says, “I know Queen Latifah, and when I saw her out there using it, I thought maybe I could use it, too, to work on my health and fitness goals and inspire others.”

Baron signed up for Jenny after his fitness regime began to slow down during the off-season. “In the off-season, it’s kind of hard to maintain day-to-day,” he says. “I don’t want to get up and cook. And when I pig out, I’m the type of person where there’s no limit to what I can do.”

And Baron is seeing results being on the program, despite some teasing by friends.

“They were like, ‘Huh? Why is Jenny Craig in your fridge? Why are you eating this?’ But then I’d be at a friend’s house and have my weekly check-in call, and they saw how serious I was about it and it helped.”

On Friday, Baron will hold a press conference in Beverly Hills during which he’ll address exactly how much weight he’s lost on Jenny Craig.

And the weight came off at the right time – Baron starts practice this week for his first season with the Clippers (he played previously for the Golden State Warriors).

Allen Iverson Lowers The Price On His PA Home

Denver Nuggest guard Allen Iverson has been trying to unload his 14,000 sq ft home in Villanove, PA for over a year now. But with the economy the way it is, and the housing market in a major slump, it's been pretty hard.

According to the Wall Street Journal's Private Properties column, Iverson has dropped the price to a "desperation deal" of $3.999 million — a million less than he paid for it in 2003. I think we can all put two and two together and know that this isn't good news.

The six-bedroom home is on four acres that include a pool house, stream and waterfall. The chateau-style home on Chateau Lane has four levels including a great room with floor-to-ceiling Palladian windows. The master suite has his and hers marble bathrooms, a coffee bar, media area and a veranda overlooking the grounds. There are four additional en-suite bedrooms and a separate guest quarters with a bedroom, living room and kitchenette. The entertainment level has a 12-seat movie theater, billiard room, and a lounge with a custom wood carved bar accommodating 200+ wine bottles.

I'm not too savvy in the housing industry but I know that this house sounds like it should be worth more than $4mil. But I guess you gotta do what'cha gotta do! If you're interested in purchasing this perfect little getaway pad, you can check out the listing here.
