Extreme Makeover Home In Foreclosure

I'm sure that most of us have caught ABC's hit show 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' at least once or twice and when you watched it, if you're human, you shed a tear or two after the unveiling right? Of course. But I bet if it were you getting the house and after three years, you had to turn it over to the bank because it was going into foreclosure, you'd cry your damn eyes out huh?

Well meet the Harpers. A Clayton County family who after being picked out of 15,000 applicants, got the ultimate surprise of their lives by receiving a 5,500 square foot home built especially for them.

Three years ago, the Lake City, GA couple gladly accepted the keys to a small castle, plus enough money to pay taxes on the home for the next 25 years. Now the couple is trying to figure out where did they go wrong. The Harpers used the house as collateral to get a $450,000 loan for a construction business that failed, Clayton County mortgage records show. Records at the law firm handling foreclosures for the lender, JPMorgan Chase Bank, say it is in foreclosure. The four-bedroom house with decorative rock walls and a three-car garage is scheduled for auction on the Clayton County Courthouse steps Aug. 5.

For the money that they got from the loan, they could have just bought a business. It's kind of sad when you think about it. You know how ABC does it. Each room for the kids had been specially designed with that childs likes in mind. How upsetting is that to the children? I pray that the family finds a home. How disappointing this is to the 1800 people who volunteered their time and money to putting this home together for the couple. I don't want to speculate on what the couple did to squander this beautiful home away, but I have a pretty good idea. It's what happens to most of us who don't know how to act when we finally get something that we've never had; We start living above and beyond our means. I'm just sayin!

Woman Branded As Sex Offender Has To Move.

You know, the laws of the land are so screwed up that it's not even funny. I agree that you shouldn't be having sex as a teenager, but it happens. I think most of us pretty much have been there. But it makes no sense when you're put on the list as a sex offender and you and the "victim" are both teenagers and both still in school.

That's exactly what the state of Georgia is doing to Wendy Whitaker. Since 1997, when Wendy (at the time 17 and a sophomore) was convicted as a sex offender for having oral sex with a classmate, who was at the time 15. Whitaker, who is now 28, has moved twice because of the sex offender law's restrictions that say an offender cannot live within 1,000 feet of places where children congregate. Whitaker was recently told by a sheriff she must move again because her home is within 1,000 feet of a church.

In my opinion, it would be different if she was 17 and she was having sex with someone who was say, 10 or 11 years old or around that age, but they were both in the same grade. But my real question is why did this chick not get any prison time like Genarlow Wilson did? Genarlow commited the same offense, and it was actually the same age, he was 17 and the girl was 15. So what did he do that warranted him having to spend several years of his life in prison, but Wendy got probation?

Some Men Will Do Anything To Be Players!

On May 18, Atlanta police arrested Eric Perteet at a local hospital. Perteet was arrested at Piedmont Hospital for impersonating a doctor. According to police, Perteet had gained access to few restricted areas in the hospital, but had access to unrestricted areas such as waiting rooms, doctors lounges, and doctor's library. He used the famous line most women would love to hear from a potential suitor, "I'm a doctor" and made it work for him. This line is how he hooked up with his wife (pictured above). They met in March and after one month of dating, got married. Not uncommon but dang, why the rush? Right after the honeymoon is when he began his "new job" at Piedmont Hospital. Using the "i'm a doctor" pick up line to attract women was Perteets motive for impersonating a physician. He met a lot of women at the hospital, and some of the staff described him as "absolutely adorable". But what's crazy to me is the fact that his wife would drive him to work everyday and still never had a clue. One investigator said "she might as well dropped him off at a singles bar!" That was sad, but too funny. Investigators say that he looked the part to a tee. He wore full surgical gear- scrubs, mask, head cover and booties on his shoes, all of which had been stolen from the hospital. He also had a piedmont hospital badge that he had stolen from another doctor but taped a picture of his face on it. He also had a cell phone, a doctors on-call pager, an electronic door swipe card and a vial of drugs. This just shows you that men are greedy. Here he is with this wife that he's just married, not even two months, and he's already on the prowl for new booty!

This Is So Not What's Up!

So now somebody is making a profit off of one young womans mental issues and the harrassment of the elderly? WOW!!! We still have a long ways to go!

Racial Depiction of Obama

So you think this is cute? Uhhhh, I think not. A Marietta, GA bar owner is selling these shirts. The owner of Mulligans Bar, Mike Norman says that the shirts are not meant to be racist, but that the shirts look exactly like Barack Obama (gimme a freakin break dude!)

When asked, why a picture of Curious George, he replied, "look at him... the hair line, the ears. He looks just like Curious George." Norman is known around town for posting signs on his tavern such as "Hilary should have married O.J." and "No habla espanol- and never will" Norman believes that he is the voice of the community. He says that he's saying what's on everyone else's mind and are too afraid to say.

He may in fact be right about that fact. But to put a monkey on a shirt and have it depicting a black man, is racist! NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT! For years blacks have endured racial slurs and being called a monkey is among the top 10 amongst many. In no way is this cute! There is no room for beliefs such as these in any community and it will not be tolerated.

People plan to protest this, and among them are the SCLC, The Nation of Islam, and the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials.
