Swizz Beats Dedicates His Artwork To MJ

The superproducer created a mixed-media portrait of a young Michael Jackson in memory of the late King of Pop, and posted it via Twitter. He then titled his work "Remember the Time," thanks to a suggestion from one of his Twitter followers.

"R.I.P. MJ the great," said Swizzy. "I took some time out to do a dedication piece tonight instead of rocking in the studio."

He also posted a few Kyte videos of him in the process. Check it out below:

Can A Sista Rock A Mic?

Our nations capital will be playing "hostess" to one of the entertainment industries most prolific female music and arts festivals put together; The fourth annual Can A Sista Rock A Mic? Festival.

The festival marks the progression of the female voice in the industry be it from spoken word, to visual arts, to music... it's all there for the taking. Each year the Festival gets better by showcasing some of the greatest females to ever rock the mic.

Last years festivities brought out Sy Smith, Philladelphia's Bahamadia and MC Lyte to rock the mic right, and this year will be no exception with the sista's scheduled to perform which includes artists Ayah, Nola Darling, Alison Carney and Teisha Marie. Also featured during the weeks events are veterans such as Jean Baylor, Angela Johnson, Yahzarah and N'dambi.

In addition to the phenomenal women on the mic, CASRAM will also highlight other facets of female artistic expression with a production of The Saartjie Project and a screening of NO! The Rape Documentary. The festival begins on Wednesday, October 8th in the heart of Washington, DC's historic U Street area and culminates in a free grand finale concert in Silver Springs, MD on Saturday, October 11th.

The four day event schedule can be seen above on the pic. For more information on CASRAM and to purchase tickets to various events, visit the Can A Sista Rock A Mic? website for additional details.

Michelle Obama Gets Busted!

Created by American artist/sculptor, Daniel Edwards, this afro-centric bust of Michelle Obama was created to draw Michelle's image away from being compared so much to Jackie O. Well, that's the Edwards claims was the inspiration for the bust.

The bust displays a bare chest, and dramtically made over Michelle with a hair piece, which is an afro-pick fashioned in the style of an American Eagle, and the United States flag embedded deep into her skin. I'm sure this is all symbolic as to the patriotism of the Obamas that has been ever so critisized by the Republican party

The piece is titled "Michelle Obama’s Makeover for America”, will go on display at New York’s Leo Kesting Gallery at the beginning of October. I'm sure there are folks out there that have something to say about this but I like it! I kind of wish her chest wasn't so "open"!

Eva Pigford Poses Nude

I'm doing my damnedest to find out where this photo came from, but until I do, just know that I got it from the good folks over at bossip.com. America's Next Top Model, Eva Pigford, poses nude on top of some hay stacks with a look-a-like Maxwell. I wish it really was Maxwell's sexy ass! But why am I almost disgusted by her rib cage, and her boyish figure? Or am I just hatin on the cool?

Obama Poster Up For Auction

Thanks to Kanye Wests blog, I found out who is the originator of this Obama poster which I so love. The creator is Shephard Fairly and he's putting the poster up for auction. The poster is done in mixed media stencil collage on a 4 x 6 foot cotton rag paper. Fairey donated this piece to Russell Simmons's Art for Life Auction, with proceeds going toward the Rush Philanthropic Art Foundation. Currently the bid for the poster is $75,000. I would have kept it. It's history. But I'm sure someone else is thinking the same thing and would love to have it. As long as it's for a good cause, we're good.

This Sold for $33.6 Million????

The painter of this portrait is named Lucian Freud. I'm wondering if he's any relation to Sigmund, because this right here is waaaaay out! But, it set a record for Christies Auction, selling for a whopping $33.6 million. I'm wondering how much the chick who posed for this got. I'm laughing right now because I could have easily done this... HA!!!! Are the more curvy women taking over? Me tinks... MAYBE!
