Brandy Says She Wasn't Dropped By Label

For the last few days, it has been reported by several internet sites that RnB singer Brandy had been dropped by her label and cut ties with her management team over at Roc Nation Management due to "creative differences". According to BV Buzz, the singer was let go by Epic Records because of poor sales of her “Human” CD, which was released back in December of 2008. Neither Epic nor Roc Nation have responded to the reports, however Brandy quickly took to her Twitter page to shoot down the rumors. Telling her fans:
“Don’t believe everything you read or see. The singer went on to say it “Looks bad when so called journalist spread false rumors without the facts”.

Brandy's "Human Nature" cd only sold 196,509 units to date according to SoundScan.

Brandy Prepares 6th Album With The Help of Pharrell

Having completed her mini-promotional tour, which saw stops in select European cities as well as the US, Brandy is back in the studio to continue the recording of her 6th studio album. The latest to join the producers list is none other than Pharrell Williams of the Neptunes - as confirmed by Brandy herself on Twitter today. Williams joins an all-star list of writers and producers lined-up to work on the as-yet-untitled record, which includes Ne-Yo, Stargate, The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.

It appears Brandy and her team are sparing no expense when it comes to enlisting the best of the best to work on the album, following the commercial tanking of her last LP (her Epic Records debut and the criminally underrated) 'Human'. Interestingly, the at-time-of-writing absence of past collaborators Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins and Timbaland suggests she's looking to work with those she hasn't worked with in the past.

As one of those who really enjoyed 'Human', yet understood the sad reality that such records don't really enjoy chart success in today's industry, I'm really salivating at the info known about this new project - top producers, more commercial sounding, yet the same high quality we've come to expect from Brandy. Word is we can expect the album in stores this Fall.

Brandy Settles On Wrongful Death Suit

R&B singer Brandy has finally settled in the wrongful death case that she caused back in 2006.

The R&B songbird has reached a settlement in the wrongful-death lawsuit brought on behalf of the children of the woman killed in a December 2006 multicar collision involving the former Moesha star.

According to settlement documents obtained by E! News, the kids—Mrwan and Kareem Mohamed—will each receive $300,000. The boys, who were then 15 and 11, were in the family's Toyota Corolla when it was struck by Brandy's Land Rover, killing their mother, Awatef Aboudihaj.

There was no immediate comment on the settlement from Brandy's lawyer or publicist

Brandy Sued Again For Car Accident

Brandy just can't get away from this lawsuit stuff. Another lawsuit has been filed against the brokenhearted songstress. Another person who was injured in the 06' car crash, which involved Brandy and left one person dead, is suing both the songbird and the deceased driver for personal injury and negligence.

The complaint filed last Monday (Dec 8) in the L.A. County Superior Court, says that the plaintiff, Donald Lite alleges he sustained "serious and permanent injuries" as a result of excessive speed on the part of Brandy and Awatef Aboudihaj and their failure to properly maintain a safe distance from each other.

The fatal chain reaction occurred Dec. 30, 2006, at about 10:30 a.m. on the 405 Freeway, when the 28-year-old R&B singer's 2007 Land Rover collided with a vehicle driven by the 38-year-old Aboudihaj, a wife and mother of two. She in turn smashed into a 1989 Toyota Tercel driven by the 82-year-old Lite, while a fourth car broadsided Aboudihaj, who died the following day as the result of major blunt force trauma.

Last year, Los Angeles prosecutors opted not to bring a criminal case against Brandy, whose full name is Brandy Norwood, after finding insufficient evidence that she was at fault. But that's not stopping Lite from pressing the matter in civil court. According to the suit, the former Moesha star "failed to keep a proper lookout" and stay far enough away from Aboudihaj to enable her to stop in time to avoid a collision.

"As a direct and proximate result of the negligence, carelessness and recklessness—the plaintiff suffered serious and permanent injuries all of which have caused, and continue to cause pain, suffering and nervousness," read court documents.

Lite's seeking unspecified damages for pain and suffering as well as the cost of medical care and loss of wages, among other claims. No word yet on a trial date. A rep for Brandy was unavailable for comment. The erstwhile America's Got Talent judge is already facing three wrongful death lawsuits filed by the relatives of Aboudihaj.

Brandy Album Pushed Back

After four years of no music being put out whatsoever, singer Brandy is being hit with road blocks as she continues on to get her latest album to the public.

Brandy's last cd "Afrodisiac" was released in 04 and only sold 416k worldwide. Now Brandy is poised to make a comback with her fifth album, Human, which was supposed to have come out Nov 11 but is now being pushed back to Dec 9.

The first single off the album, “Right Here (Departed),” is struggling to connect with listeners. It currently sits at the No. 83 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

But despite those setbacks, a source close to the singer remains confident that her new CD will be well worth the wait: “She’s putting the finishing touches on some great songs and recently logged studio time with Timbaland in Miami.” That sounds promising. Let’s hope their work is as inspired as her sleek duet with John Legend (“Quickly”) on the dapper soul stirrer’s forthcoming disc, Evolver, out Oct. 28.

Video Shoot: Brandy ~ Right Here (Departed)

Brandy Norwood has been one of the missing links on the female music scene, but after four long years on haitus and since she's released any new music, she is back on the scene with a new album. I'm starting to get that Brandy vs Monica rivalry feeling back... isn't Monica's new album coming out soon too? I'm just sayin... coincidence?

Brandy just wrapped up filming her video for her lead single “Right Here (Departed)” from her forthcoming album “Human” in downtown L.A. yesterday afternoon (August 18th). Brandy says that her new album is "an unadulterated look into her heart." “Human is my most personal album to date. I have grown so much since my last album. Being able to express myself and my journey through my music is a feeling I can’t describe. With this new chapter of my life it feels good to have Rodney [Jerkins, her producer], a familiar face, by my side again. He brings out emotions in me like nobody else.”

Brandy's new album will be out in stores November 11th, with the single “Right Here (Departed)” releasing August 26th.
