Jay-Z Has The Power!

It's been almost two years since Jay released an album, but it's evident that dude is still on his A game; He's been named #1 on the Source magazines “Power 30” list.

The hip-hop magazine says Jay-Z tops the list because he’s an industry leader and a top businessman, with his ventures with Live Nation and Rocawear, and his part-ownership of the New Jersey Nets.

Others on the list include Diddy, 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, will.i.am, Snoop Dogg, T-Pain and Kimora Lee Simmons. President Barack Obama was given top billing on the honorary power list because of his influence on the new hip-hop generation.

Looks like our favorite "Diva" Beyonce is still doing her thing. This time, she's brought along fellow R&B'er Jamie Foxx to share the light! Jamie Foxx & Beyonce have already been honored with Grammys and Oscars and now the “Dreamgirls” co-stars have earned another accolade – a waxy one!

Wax figures of the “Single Ladies” singer and “The Soloist” star will be among the first celebs showcased at Madame Tussauds Hollywood, which is scheduled to open later this year, according to Variety.

Beyonce and Jamie join a long list of fellow celebs who have been immortalized by the wax museum in locations around the world, including Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and President Obama. The Obamas Honor Stevie Wonder at The White House

President and First Lady Obama honored R&B soul legendary singer Stevie Wonder at the a "concert" in the East Room last night at the White House. The Obamas held a performance and party to celebrate Stevie Wonder being awarded the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. During an introduction, President Obama said that Michelle is a tremendous fan of Stevie's and that their wedding song was "You & I"! Awww!!!

Now dammit... I need Stevie to let them damn dreads go... ASAP"

$100 Million Raised For MLK Memorial

46 years after he gave his famous "I Have a Dream Speech" in Washington on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King Jr. is finally being immortalized with his own memorial in our nation's capitol.

With the historic inauguration of the first black U.S. President coming a day after King would've turned 80, if he were still alive, the amount needed to build the memorial has almost been reached.

According to AOL's BlackVoices.com, more than $100 million has been raised in donations for the construction of the MLK memorial.The total cost of the memorial is estimated to reach $120 million, so there's still some financial ground to cover.

Former president, Bill Clinton, is one of the memorial's supporters, and revealed why during a fundraiser in Miami recently."I signed the legislation authorizing the memorial," he said. "I thought it ought to be on the National Mall because that's where he delivered his most important speech. ... Just nine days after my 17th birthday, and I could still quote that speech today. It changed America in profound ways."The MLK memorial will be build sometime this year, on a four-acre corner of the National Mall, on the banks of the Potomac River between the Lincoln and Jefferson Memorials.

Run-DMC To Be Inducted Into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

To call them just another rap group that paved the way for todays "rappers" is to do a grave injustice to Run-DMC and the acomplishments that the legendary pioneers of rap have contributed to the game. The Hollis Queens natives, are among the latest class of inductees to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Run-DMC is only the second rap group to make it in, the first is Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five, which was inducted back in 2007.

"This year's class of inductees truly represents what the Hall of Fame is all about. From classic artists that began their careers in the 50's and 60's to those that have defined the modern sound of rock and roll," Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation President & CEO Joel Peresman said in a statement. "These artists demonstrate the rich diversity of rock and roll itself. We are proud to honor these artists and celebrate their contribution to rock and roll's place in our cultureappers are being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Run-DMC joins heavy-metal band Metallica, guitarist Jeff Beck, soul singer Bobby Womack and doo-wop group Little Anthony and the Imperials in this year's inductee class. Rockabilly singer Wanda Jackson gets a nod as an early influence, and the sidemen inductees are Spooner Oldham and two of Elvis Presley's musicians - drummer D.J. Fontana and bassist Bill Black.

The induction will be held in Cleveland on April 4.

The Kennedy Center Honors event took place yesterday in DC. This was a very astute crowd which included George "Dubya" Bush, Barbara Streisand, Condoleeza Rice and a host of other A-List folks. The honors recognize individuals who helped define American culture through the performing arts, part of the living memorial to President John F. Kennedy. Will Smith Is Americas Favorite Star

The American people could have chosen any of the tons of celebrities out there as their all time favorite actor/actress, but they went with everybody's homeboy Will Smith. With so many celebrity stars cluttering the sky, it can be hard to pick just a few as favorites, but Parade and Entertainment Tonight have worked together to whittle the list down to ten, after asking fans to choose their top entertainers.

Will Smith, who graces the cover of Parade's Nov. 9 issue, tops the list in the #1 slot, as voted by fans. He and the others on the lineup will also be featured in an ET weekend special, airing on both Nov. 15 and 16.

“I think a large part of why I’ve been successful is that I have, essentially, a white-collar career with a blue-collar mentality,” he says. “I can never really relax. I’m always waiting to see what’s next. It’s always, ‘OK, something different is gonna happen here.’ ”

VH1 has finally brought something of sustanance to the forefront of their network; albeit that it is VH1 Soul, but it doesn't matter. BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Inc and VH1 Soul have teamed up for the third annual BLACK GIRLS ROCK! Awards, mainly because... hell, WE DO!

According to the press release, U.S. Paralympian and world’s fastest amputee April Holmes will receive the BGR! ‘Becoming Legendary’ Award. British R&B and pop sensation Estelle will take home the BGR! ‘Who Got Next?’ Award. Bethann Hardison who shook up the fashion world by speaking out against the lack of diversity in the industry will be walking away with the BGR! ‘Shot Caller Award’. While, this year’s BGR! ‘Living Legend’ Award goes to actress and icon Pam Grier Emmy and Golden Globe nominee who set the tone of “independence” for Black actresses as the queen of 1970s Black filmography.

Additional honorees include supermodel IMAN, global ambassador of ‘Keep A Child Alive’ and founder of IMAN Cosmetics who will receive the BGR! ‘Social Humanitarian’ Award, GRAMMY Award-nominated soul singer Erykah Badu will win the BGR! ‘Rock Star’ Award’, Rachel Lloyd, founder of G.E.M.S., an organization that works to rescue sexually exploited children, will receive the BGR! ‘Community Service’ Award and Nicole Paultre-Bell and Valerie Bell will receive the BGR! ‘Monument’ Award, which recognizes individuals that have endured crises and withstood tremendous emotional, physical, and/or psychological events.

Halle Berry shows the world that she's got her body back after the birth of baby Nahla. This chick is looking really fab if you ask me! Last night, Ms. Berry was honored at the 15th annual “Women In Hollywood Tribute” hosted by Elle Magazine at the Four Seasons Hotel on Monday in Beverly Hills, Calif. Boyfriend, and father of baby Nahla Gabriel was there to support Halle and also, Kerry Washington was in attendance.

Candace Parker Recieves League Honors

L.A. Sparks' Candace Parker has been on a roll the last few years. Winning an Olympic Gold medal, a national college championship and college player of the year honors, have all been great testaments to her athletic abilities on the court. But, let's throw two more awards into the bowl.

How about League MVP and Rookie of the Year!

On Friday, the WNBA awarded Parker the league MVP trophy as well as Rookie of the Year honors, making her the first player to win both trophies in the same year.

"You know, Coach (Michael) Cooper set this goal for me early on, and I looked at him like he was crazy,'' Parker told NBC Sports. "He's like, 'We're going to win the rookie of the year, and you're going to win a championship and you're going to win the MVP.' I just looked at him like, 'That's what you expect of me already?''

The Sparks didn't make it to the finals this year, after being knocked out by the San Antonio Silver Stars. But that doesn't really matter because it's almost inevitable that Parker will go to a championship sometime in the future.

She was the #1 pick in the draft this season coming out of the University of Tennessee and averaged 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds a game.

VH1 Hip Hop Honors

Last night at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC, the VH1 2008 Hip Hop Honors were held and from the looks of the pictures, it looks like everyone there had a ball. Even Slick Rick came out looking like a blinged out Pink Panther. The show was hosted by funnyman Tracey Morgan. The show airs on Monday October 6 at 9pm EST.

Run D.M.C. Nominated For Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Legendary rap group Run-D.M.C. was among the nominees announced today for induction into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The group, consisting of Reverend Run, D.M.C. and the late Jam Master Jay, will face off against eight other nominees including heavy metal band Metallica and female rocker Wanda Jackson. If inducted, the hip-hop icons will become only the second rap act since last year’s inductees Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five.

In order to be nominated, artists must have released their first single or album at least 25 years prior to the actual nomination; the Queens, New York threesome dropped their first single “Sucker MC’s” in 1983. Along with producing numerous multi-platinum albums, RUN-D.M.C. became the first hip-hop group to appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine and sign an athletic product endorsement deal with Adidas.

The 24th Annual Induction Ceremony is open to the public and takes place Saturday, April 4 in Cleveland.
