The First Family Checks Up On Beyonce's DC Show

Popstar Beyonce and her alter-ego Sasha Fierce had several very special guests at their DC concert Wednesday (June 24) night. The First Lady, Michelle Obama, as well as several White House staffers and hordes of security, were spotted taking in the singer’s sold out show at the Verizon Center.

Although seeing the first lady hanging out and enjoying herself is a wonderful sight, it was the sight of little Sasha and Malia Obama in the audience, that really got the crowd excited. The First Lady has often cited Beyonce as a role model for her daughters and freely admits that she and The President are both fans of the pop diva as well.

I haven't found any pictures of the family at the concert but you know that there are plenty of Ms. Beyonce all over the place. Hopefully the official White House Flickr page will put some images up in the next few days. I’m sure the family got special backstage access to hang out with the singer.

Tupac's 38th Birthday Marked With Atlanta Celebration Concert

Today is the 38th birthday of rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur and folks here in Atlanta are celebrating with a concert.

Tupacs mother, Afeni Shakur, has confirmed the participation of more celebrities for today’s (June 16) Atlanta celebration of her son’s birthday.

The idea for the event originated with co-host Mike Epps, who worked hard to fit in the festivities with his national comedy tour commitment, and two new movies in “Next Day Air” and “Janky Promoters.”

The benefit concert will take place in the Tupac Amaru Center for the Arts in Stone Mountain, GA, and feature appearances from Big Boi, Dungeon Family, Playas Circle, Bun B, Lil Scrappy, Young LA, B.o.B., and Eightball and MJG. Along with Mike Epps, hosting duties will be handled by Dead Prez member M-1. While attending the concert, first-time visitors to the Stone Mountain facility can experience the rotating exhibits, gift shop, 6-acre Peace Garden, and purchase Tupac memorabilia.

Tickets for the event are $25, and can be purchased at www.tasf.org, or the Tupaac Amaru Shakur Center for the Arts box office, located on 5616 Memorial Drive in Stone Mountain, GA. All proceeds from the fundraising concert will go to the Tupac Amaru Center for the Arts.

Young Jeezy Is Top Billin Atlanta Birthday Bash

How can Young Jeezy outdo himself this year? Well, Jeezy has just been announced as the headlining act for one of the biggest hip-hop concerts of the year: Atlanta radio station 107.9's 14th annual Birthday Bash.

Jeezy has the task of closing the concert that also features Rick Ross, Gucci Mane, OJ Da Juiceman, Soulja Boy Tell'em, Yung L.A., Trey Songz, Young Dro, Hurricane Chris, Jeremih, Keri Hilson, F.L.Y., Lil' Will, Pleasure P and Plies. Birthday Bash 14 takes place June 20 at Philips Arena in Atlanta. At last year's Birthday Bash, Jeezy stole the show, bringing Kanye West and Usher onstage, among others.

"I gave you a show," Jeezy told us backstage after last year's show. "[At the] Birthday Bash two years ago, I brought out Jay-Z. Shout-outs to Hov. It's about topping it. Making people step their game up. Relationships is everything. When you really know people, you tell them, 'Come through, we got Birthday Bash. Be there,' and they there? To me, that means everything. This year I called out Dream, Kanye, Usher, Blood Raw. ... I'm from Atlanta, so they pretty much see you every day. They know you gonna come out, but when you bring those special people out, it just gives it that extra umph. Me, personally, I take pride in Birthday Bash. Birthday Bash 13 was mine, by the way.

"Shout-out to Kanye, he flew all the way in," Jeezy added about West, who had another concert the same night. "I had to throw him a private jet courtesy of Young." Usher flew in last year from Japan.

Jeezy had a huge moment last week at Hot 97's Summer Jam in New Jersey when he brought Jay-Z and Drake onstage for his set.

Toni Braxton Look-A-Like Not Fooling Anyone

Talk about loyal fans. The fans of Toni Braxton can not be deceived. The Grammy winner was advertised to perform a concert in Paramaribo, Suriname, a city in northern South America; however the show promoter Angel Ventura from Events 4 Suriname apparently attempted to dupe concertgoers with a bogus Braxton imposter.

Ventura contracted an American singer named Trina Johnson to pretend to be Braxton onstage, but when attendees realized that the 'Un-break My Heart' singer was not the real deal during her second song, pandemonium ensued as patrons booed, threw objects at the stage and looted the bars at the Anthony Nesty Indoor Stadium.

Security had to rescue Johnson from the melee and she was whisked away in a waiting limousine. Additionally, Johnson appeared at a press conference for the concert days before and claimed to be Braxton's manager. (The 41-year-old singer's actual manager is her husband, former Mint Condition singer Keri Lewis.) Attendees were told that Braxton would not be appearing at the concert because she was tired from her airline flight.

To promote the show, organizers ran television advertisements with images of the real Braxton announcing she was coming to Paramaribo. Braxton, who appeared on last season's 'Dancing with the Stars,' released a statement saying her camp was looking into the matter.

"Many apologies to the fans for the mis-representation, we are working on finding out exactly what happened and what the whole situation was," the singer said.

Authorities have started a criminal investigation into the matter and hundreds of local patrons filed fraud complaints. While no arrests have been made in the matter, police did interview Johnson and since she was able to produce a contract stating that she would perform an "imitation act," she was not able to be held. The promoter Ventura, who is allegedly from the US Virgin Islands, disappeared following the concert and failed to pay local sponsors, organizations, show workers and artists who opened the show.

Since the promoters and their team where not South American residents, border authorities have been alerted and are on look-out for them. Impersonating someone else with the intent to filch something, whether it is money, a good or service from another individual, according to Article 386 of the Surinamese Criminal Code is a criminal offence with a maximum jail term of three years.

Ashanti Shows Every Curve!

Miss Ashanti performed this weekend in Albuquerque, New Mexico where her fans were treated to some “Good Good” fun at Ashanti’s concert at Route 66 Casino Hotel’s Legends Theater on Saturday. She was on stage sporting the oh-so-tired liquid latex pants that everybody who feels they can squeeze a thigh in them has. Not sure if I like her in these... I think we need to go back to square one on this one dear.
