Serena Williams Introduces Skin Care Line

Serena Williams is not just making major moves on the tennis court. The tennis pro is fresh off of a big win of beating her older sister Venus to take the Wimbledon women’s tennis title last week. Now Serena has another big announcement.

Williams has just launched her own signature skincare line which will be featured on the Home Shopping Network. The line is titled, 'Mission Active Beauty'. All of the proceeds from the sales of the line will go toward one of Serena's charities the Serena Williams Foundation for educational grants.

Serena Next Up On The Memoirs List

Tennis star of the queen of all things bootylicious, Serena Williams is dishing in a memoir due out sometime next year.

The book will be released in 2009 by Central Publishing, which beat out a handful of other publishers bidding for the life story of the No. 1 ranked women’s tennis player.

“Serena Williams is one of the world’s most remarkable athletes,” Grand Central editor Karen Kosztolnyik said Tuesday in a statement. “We’ve watched her rise to No. 1 despite physical and emotional setbacks, and her hard work and determination have inspired legions of fans young and old. Serena will give her memoir a strong motivational slant.”

Financial terms for the book, currently untitled, were not disclosed, although a publishing official with knowledge of the negotiations said bidding reached at least $1.3 million. The official, citing the confidentiality of the negotiations, declined to be identified.

Williams, 26, has won nine Grand Slam titles and, with sister Venus Williams, won a gold medal in women’s doubles at the recent Olympics in Beijing.

Serena Gets Third US Open Title

Last night, tennis champ Serena Williams claimed her third US Open women's title with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Jelena Jankovic at Flushing Meadows in New York

Despite making 39 unforced errors, the fourth seed prevailed in just over two hours against the second seeded Serbian, who has yet to win a grand-slam title.

When asked about her win, Serena exclaimed, "I am so excited," Williams said. "Usually after a grand slam I feel like I still have another match to play but I don't really feel that way today. I feel like it's done and it's all over and I am so excited. I just think it showed on the court."

Williams, who won the US Open in 2002 and 1999, is enjoying a renaissance season on the WTA Tour with four titles, taking her career total to 32 and she plans to add to her grand slam collection. "It doesn't stop here," she said. "I feel so young and so energized every week. It feels like I am having a new career."

Jankovic, who was competing in her first grand slam final, said she squandered her chances on the big points. "I am disappointed that I lost," she said. "It is not pleasing when you lose. I felt I had her because she was really tired at the end of the second set. "I gave everything. I had had my chances in the first set and second set. I had some unlucky points I should have won them and I didn't. "Serena played better tonight. She was too good."

This is the ninth time in history that a grand-slam final has featured two women battling for No 1 in the world. Williams surpasses former No 1 ranked player, Ana Ivanovic, who reigned for 12 weeks before being knocked out in the second round of the final major championship of the season.

Baby Sister Serena Williams Slams Big Sis Venus On The Court

I'm not a big tennis watcher, but I caught a bit of the U.S. Open quarterfinal between sisters and my fellow Cali girls Venus and Serena Williams. Last nights show was a definite slug fest between the sisters at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

It didn't just seem like the quarterfinal though; It was more like a heavyweight boxing match between Tyson and Riddick Bow. It took about 2 1/2 hours to fight it out and 199 points between the two sisters and didn't get a definitive decision until a challenge was called, and an overrule made, on the final point of the tautest two-set drama you will ever see.

Serena Williams survived her big sister. She did it by the score of 7-6 (6), 7-6 (7), and by winning virtually every big point of the match. Don't ask me what this all means, I just know it was an exciting match.

"It definitely felt like a final of the U.S. Open," said No. 4 Serena, who is two victories away from her third Open title and her ninth Grand Slam title. "It just boiled down to one point here and there." In winning for the ninth time in the sisters' 17 meetings, the 26-year-old Serena didn't merely reverse the outcome of the Wimbledon final. She combined with her sister to end 10 days of mostly lopsided women's matches. The sisters themselves played four of them apiece, until they went after each other.

In tomorrow's semifinals, Serena will play No. 6 Dinara Safina.

Serena Williams Does Men's Fitness

Bravo Ms. Williams... BRAVO! I love this photoshoot that Serena just did for the September issue of Men's Fitness magazine. In the issue Serena dishes about being considered one of the sexiest female atheletes out there. “I have large boobs and a sizable a**, so I guess the title comes with the territory. But I just play tennis. I always try to look my best, even though it’s hard to look your best when you’re sweating, grunting, and making faces. I never look my best when playing.”

Serena is currently over in China competing in the Olympic games. I'm crossing my fingers that she brings home the gold.
