VOTE!

Today is the day! Have you let your voice be heard? GET OUT AND VOTE! It's your right so take advantage of it! And yes... your one vote does make a difference!

First Election Results Are In... Obama Wins... In New Hampshire!

Seriously folks... Obama won in the small New Hampshire town of Dixville Notch. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama emerged victorious in the first election returns of the 2008 presidential race, winning 15 of 21 votes cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire. Dixville Notch residents wait for the stoke of midnight to be the first voters for the nation's presidential election.

People in the isolated village in New Hampshire's northeast corner voted just after midnight Tuesday. It was the first time since 1968 that the village leaned Democratic in an election. Obama's rival, Republican John McCain, won 6 votes. A full 100 percent of registered voters in the village cast ballots. And the votes didn't take long to tally. The town, home to around 75 residents, has opened its polls shortly after midnight each election day since 1960, drawing national media attention for being the first place in the country to make its presidential preferences known. However, since 1996, another small New Hampshire town -- Hart's Location -- reinstated its practice from the 1940s and also began opening its polls at midnight.

The result in Dixville Notch is hardly a reliable bellwether for the eventual winner of the White House -- or even the result statewide. While New Hampshire is a perennial swing state -- with 4 Electoral College votes at stake -- Dixville Notch consistently leans Republican. The last Democrat it picked was Hubert Humphrey over Richard Nixon in 1968. President Bush won the town in a landslide in the last two elections: He captured 73 percent of the vote in 2004 (19 residents picked Bush while six preferred Sen. John Kerry), and secured 80 percent of the vote in 2000 (21 votes for Bush, five votes for Al Gore.) But villagers expected the results to be close this year given Democrats now outnumber Republicans there.

The town picked both John McCain and Barack Obama for the New Hampshire Democratic and Republican primaries in January. McCain ultimately won the state of New Hampshire, while Sen. Hillary Clinton upset Obama there.

Voter Ballot Mistakes? Not Likely

Did anyone hear about this "mistake" on voter ballots this weekend? Probably not because to the MSM, it's not news worthy. But it matters to me.

In Troy, NY, if you requested an absentee ballot, you received one that read "Barack Osama"... which is a major WTF?

The misspelling, which elections officials on both sides of the aisle insist was simply a typo, is causing embarrassment for the county. ''No question this is an honest mistake innocently done,'' said Edward McDonough, the Democratic commissioner. ''We catch almost everything. This was a typo,'' said Republican Commissioner Larry Bugbee. ''We have three different staff members who proof these things and somehow the typo got by us.''

Don't play us dude! Ain't nobody stupid enough to think this was a damn "typo". Somebody intentionally did this, and they need to be held accountable or fired. I would PROBABLY understand if the "b" and the "s" were letters that are right next to each other on the keyboard, but they aren't! Two seperate rows, and four letters away from each other. Get a grip on reality conservatives. You're losing and good always triumphs over evil!!!

Not just Vibe readers... but Barack Obama needs you AMERICA!!!

In the November Election issue of Vibe magazine, the Presidential hopeful pens a letter to Vibe readers. In the letter, Obama is given a page to address the readers of the urban music monthly magazine. In it, Obama urges them to register to vote, saying,

‘‘We are at a defining moment in our history. I am running for president to take this country in a new direction. But I can’t do it alone. I need you... Whether it’s the first time, or the first time in a long time, I need you to register and vote on November 4.’’

And he's right. There are still millions of unregistered Americans out there. But you can't just register and think that's it. Put the registration to use and GO VOTE ON NOVEMBER 4th.

Barack has the full support of Vibe magazine, which is the first presidential endorsement ever by Vibe. This is Barack's second time being covered on the urban mag, with the first cover distributed in September 2007.

Let Your Voice Be Heard... By Any Means Necessary!

With the voter registration deadline of October 6 soon approaching, there are still way too many people of legal age, still not registered to vote!

The BET Networks is making an unprecedented, nationwide effort to encourage its audience to "STAND UP, SIGN UP, BE HEARD."

On Saturday, Sept. 27, BET Networks will host an on-air voter registration day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (ET/PT) aimed at getting people registered to vote. The special will re-air from 5-8 p.m. (ET/PT) Saturday.

During this historic, three-hour "Stand Up, Sigh Up, Be Heard: The BET Voter Registration Day” special, the BET studio in New York City will serve as the headquarters for the event, featuring host Queen Latifah, with appearances by Jim Jones and Mary Mary, and an in-studio audience of 100 unregistered voters.

In addition, BET will present live remote coverage from voter registration rallies taking place in cities in four key battleground states: Cleveland, Ohio; Detroit; Norfolk, Va.; and Philadelphia. At each rally, thousands of people will gather to register to vote, receive valuable voter registration information and hear about the importance of voting from BET hosts and news correspondents, as well as celebrity guests.

"To support this historic presidential election, we are making a major, dedicated effort to mobilize the hugely significant voting block of unregistered African Americans to sign up and get to the polls," said Debra L. Lee, chairwoman and chief executive officer of BET Networks. "The numbers don't lie. African-American voters have the potential to impact the outcomes of several states on Election Day. With more than 8 million African Americans not yet registered to vote, BET Networks is seizing this Saturday … as the moment to encourage our audience to embrace their civic duty and get on the rolls, so that they're set to vote in November and make a real difference in this election."

People please... if you are at least 18, go register to vote!!! Go to the church, the library, your DMV, wherever you can, and get registered. Don't let these rumors about home foreclosures, and not being able to be on taxes, and all the other things the Republican party is putting out there deter you from this historic event. Voting is your right! Don't just register... make sure that you go vote when it's time to vote as well! If you don't vote... you have no room to complain about your future. You had a chance to speak... USE IT!

Hip Hop Caucus To Register Voters

With the most important presidential election in decades looming, the bi-partisan Hip-Hop Caucus is teaming with Radio One for the “Respect My Vote" Campaign, aimed at registering over 50,000 voters on September 30.

The ambitious one day voter registration drive will be held in 15 big market cities throughout the country, including Atlanta, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Detroit, St. Louis, Charlotte, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.

Radio One will utilize 52 stations across the nation to broadcast live from a central location in each city, allowing registrars to set up eligible voters.

Radio One Corporate Director of Marketing Barry Macon explained his company is obligated to spearhead this movement due to their years of community activism.

“Radio One has been committed for more than 25 years to the community and nothing is more important than being able to exercise your right to vote,” Macon said. “Voting is the most fundamental of all of our rights as American citizens.”

Partnered in the event is Hip-Hop Caucus CEO Reverend Lennox Yearwood, co-creator of the memorable 2004 “Vote or Die Campaign” with Sean “Diddy” Combs.

While this year’s initiative would like to draw voters from all backgrounds, Yearwood disclosed that their focus is on non-college educated African-Americans ages 18-29, who historically have not played a significant part in past elections.

“We are committed to building awareness to the 'Respect My Vote' Campaign,” Yearwood stated. “Our partnership with Radio One will help push the importance of registering to vote in this year’s presidential election to the more than 8 million unregistered African-American eligible to vote nationwide.”

The voter registration drives will commence on September 30 in selected cities from 6 AM to 9 PM.

Young Jeezy Registers To Vote

Young Jeezy arrived yesterday (Sept 4) in his sky-blue Lamborghini during a voter registration drive his company sponsored at Justin's Restaurant in the Buckhead section of Atlanta. At the event Jeezy didn't spare the people in promoting his new album The Recession as well. It's a great thing to see though. Despite what everyone's intentions are, I'm glad to see a lot of our young generation excited about politics. Jeezy even registered to vote at the event too!
